So let’s dive into the five impressive seniors from the event.
Johnathan Lawson, Wooddale: The Oregon commit did a lot of good things on Sunday. Whenever he grabbed the defensive rebound, Lawson quickly pushed the ball up the floor or hurled a first down pass beyond past half-court to an open teammate. The 6-foot-8 guard/forward communicates well in transition and thinks quickly about either passing or scoring. When Lawson has the ball in his hands, good things seem to happen.
Jalen Brown, Tennessee Prep: Since Brown has transitioned to point guard at his new school, he’s looking like a new player. In the past, people have only looked at Brown as a scoring guard. Now, he’s wanting to prove that he’s capable of expanding his game. On Sunday, Brown showed glimpses of that. He made some dime passes to teammates slashing to the basket from the baseline.
Alex Anderson, Tipton–Rosemark Academy: Anderson always bring energy when he’s on the court. He definitely brought high spirits on Sunday, especially on the defensive end. Anderson forced turnovers before dropping easy assists to junior wing Tyler Byrd Tyler Byrd 6'3" | SF Tipton-Rosemark Academy | 2022 State TN . The South Alabama commit was able to get anything he wanted at the rim.
Isaiah Jones, Arlington: Jones didn’t shoot the ball well like he did Saturday night at the Super 80 Showcase, but he did use his 6-7 frame to get scores inside the paint. Jones is taking the next step of being more vocal on the floor than he has in the past. He starting to play with an edge, with a chip on his shoulder. Maybe the move from Nashville to Memphis, Tennessee was a good idea after all.
Madison Peaster, Arlington: The one thing that Peaster did well was shoot the 3. Consistent outside shooting is what the 6-2 point guard needs to add to his game. Hopefully, Sunday wasn’t a fluke. Hopefully, it’s a sign for great things to come. Peaster’s release and air on the ball was near perfection.
