There are prospects galore, but a peek at the list of established stars gives a taste of what’s to come. (Players listed in alphabetical order with high school and grad class)
Max Alexander Max Alexander 6'0" | PG Next Level Prep | 2022 KS , Buhler, 2021:
The versatile point guard was third-team 4A a year ago. He can light it up from the perimeter, break down defenders to get to the goal, but never forgets how to quarterback a team and involve everyone.
Jack Chapman Jack Chapman 6'5" | CG Blue Valley Northwest | 2021 State KS , Blue Valley Northwest, 2021:
Prep Hoops’ eighth-rated prospect of 2021 was first-team 6A last year. The 6-foot-7 Chapman is remarkably versatile and can shoot it from anywhere. He will be one of the headliners for Saturday’s jamboree.
Lonell Lane Lonell Lane 6'0" | PG JC Harmon | 2021 KS , KC Harmon, 2021:
Prep Hoops’ fourth-rated prospect of 2021 earned second team 6A last year. Lane is an explosive 6-foot-1 guard who loves to aggressively attack. His combination of strength and speed make him a tough matchup.
Alex Littlejohn Alex Littlejohn 6'5" | CG Bishop Carrol | 2021 State KS , Carroll, 2021:
The lights-out shooter was second-team 5A last season. At 6-foot-5 he can get his shot off from anywhere. But he’s not just a shooter, and he’s not soft despite his slender frame. He crashes the boards and battles in the lane. Once the ball is in his hands he’s a threat to go end-to-end and create for others.
Alston Mason Alston Mason 6'2" | CG Blue Valley Northwest | 2021 State KS , Blue Valley Northwest, 2021:
The entertaining Mason can break down a defense and light up the scoreboard. He’s got size and length to go with quickness and athleticism, but it’s his ability to get anywhere he wants on the floor and find open shooters that makes him fun to watch.
Devan McEwen, Lebo, 2021:
Perhaps the top small-school talent coming to the Expo, McEwen was second-team 1A last year. For Lebo, he was a scoring machine who came through in big moments. At 6-foot-1, he’s got size to go with his speed and quickness at the 1A level.
Charles Snyder Charles Snyder 6'5" | PF Emporia | 2021 State KS , Emporia, 2021:
The 6-foot-5 Snyder is a battler who never takes it down a notch. He earned third-team 5A as a junior. He’s going at the defense at top speed at all times. He can score in the lane or on the run, and contributes on the perimeter.
Nahcs Wahwassuck Nahcs Wahwassuck 6'5" | CG Royal Valley | 2022 State KS , Royal Valley, 2022:
One of the most experienced juniors in the state, Wahwassuck earned first-team all 3A as a sophomore. He’s been a leader at Royal Valley since his freshman campaign. He’s got the height, athleticism and ball skills to play any spot on the floor and he’s a patient leader, never getting out of control or forcing the action.
