Senior Showcase: Team 4
Over this past weekend, PrepHoops Indiana put on their 7th annual Senior Showcase in Fort Wayne, IN. This was a massive event and tons of seniors from 6 different states were able to showoff their talent and skills to over 120 college coaches that watched both in-person and virtually. Over the next few weeks, we are going to breakdown each team and evaluate each player from that team. Today, we look at Team 4.
Team 4:
Cole Mieske Cole Mieske 5'10" | SF Corunna | 2021 State MI – 5’10″ PG 2021 – Corunna MI:
Mieske is a shorter point guard that plays like a true lead guard. Pass first mentality and had some really nice passes throughout the day. Just looking at his size alone, one would not think so but he actually an underrated defender. Can score a little too as he had a nice 15fter from the free-throw line. Finished with a total of 14 points but was for sure one of the best true lead guards at this event.
Evan Wilson Evan Wilson 6'1" | SG Noblesville | 2021 State IN – 6’1″ SG – Noblesville IN:
Wilson is a taller shooting guard that has a real smooth playing style. He was tough on the drive and looked to be really locked in and aggressive on the defensive end. Great shot and just has a great motor overall. Played hard throughout the day and finished with 19 points. Could potentially be in for a breakout senior season.
Ryan Preston Ryan Preston 6'2" | SG Fort Wayne Carroll | 2021 State IN – 6’2″ SG – Carroll IN:
Preston is a taller shooting guard with some athleticism. Solid scorer and finished with 23 points on the day. Solid defensively and had a couple steals. Noticed when I watched him that when he is locked in, he is tough to beat on both ends. Not a bad jumper either, just needs to connect on them a little more. If he has a stellar senior season he could potentially compete at the next level.
Tyler Van Eekeren Tyler Van Eekeren 6'5" | SF Benet | 2021 State IL – 6’5″ SF – Benet Academy IL:
Van Eekeren is a taller wing with a good motor. Gets to the basket well and is pretty good around the rim. Solid shooter and couple 3s on the day. He is arguably at his best when he is able to beat defenders off the dribble-drive. Needs to probably continue to add some size to his frame. Overall, he had 24 total points and played very well.
Jacob Oswald Jacob Oswald 6'9" | PF Brandon | 2021 State MI – 6’8″ PF – Brandon MI:
Oswald is a long and athletic stretch 4. Smooth jumper and had a nice pull-up 3 in his third game. Runs the floor well and can be a good rim protector on the defensive end. Type of big man that can just give a team a ton of options on how to use him. Finished with 17 points overall.
Klayton Coleman – 6’0″ PG – South Bend Riley IN:
Coleman is a guard with solid speed. Tough to tell what kind of guard he is as he does not really excel with specifically being on or off the ball. Good ball handles and gets to the basket pretty well. Outside shot is a little off right now but he did manage to hit three 3’s on the day. Just really has a smooth and patient playing style. Finished the day with 15 points.
Zachary Bailey – 6’2″ SG – Hampshire IL:
Bailey is fast shooting guard with some size to him. Solid defender and his long frame helps with that. Has some nice bounce to his game and uses his athleticism to his advantage. Did not really score the ball all that much as he only finished with 11 points. However, he does have the talent to be molded into a good player in the long term.
Jaylen Davison Jaylen Davison 6'3" | SG Walled Lake Central | 2021 State MI – 6’3″ SG – Walled Lake Central MI:
Davison is a combo guard that has a long body. Athletic and can be an elite scorer as he showed with his 34 points in the three games he played. He attacks and finishes well. Just a the type of player that can score at all 3 levels. Really good showing from Davison at this event and should continue to impress in his senior year.
Grant Jones Grant Jones 6'4" | SF Muncie Burris School | 2021 State IN – 6’4″ SF – Muncie Burris IN:
Jones is a bigger forward that can switch from the 3 or 4 spot. Has a bruising playing style and does pretty well in the post or outside. Strong player and great defensively. Best game he had was the first game as he had 10 points but slowly regressed his scoring the last two games and finished with 19 points overall. Jones is a player with legit size and skill to play at the next level.
Zack Troyer Zack Troyer 6'5" | PF Leo | 2021 State IN – 6’6″ PF – Leo IN:
Troyer is a long and lanky power forward. True stretch 4 that can play either the post or wing spot. One of the more impressive parts of his game are his ball handles as a big man. Elite scorer and had one of the best hook shots I had seen on the day. Finished the event with 34 points and looked really good throughout the day.
