The steady 6-foot-5, 185-pound wing from Westview has garnered attention from college coaches to his size, skill, and high academic marks and several of them have been steadily in contact. In fact, one school recently stepped things up and gave Grier his first scholarship offer.
“I did from Multnomah,” Grier confirmed. “It’s awesome and I’m blessed to have the opportunity.”
Grier noted that he’s also been talking with a bunch of other schools all at the D-III level: George Fox, Whitworth, Redlands, and Cal Lutheran. He’s been taking things all in and as he’s evaluating his options admits there’s a chance he may even consider deciding in the near future.
“Possibly soon if I were to commit early,” Grier said. “But there are still some things to consider and think about before I decide like cost, school size, how I fit into the program – stuff like that.”
A big wing that can not only knock down shots but use his body to create and score over smaller defenders, Grier has gotten a chance to play a little with Oregon Prospects this summer. He’s been grateful for the experience he’s been able to get and the opportunities he’s had to continue working on his game.
“COVID obviously screwed things up so we haven’t been able to get anywhere near as much hoops as we wanted but we’re getting in games when we can,” Grier said. “I’ve been focused on improving ball handling and getting to the rim. My shooting and improving my strength is going good. I’m getting more explosive and overall stronger.”
Grier currently ranks as the #17 player in the recently updated PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2021 rankings.
