Wilhelm BreidenbachWilhelmBreidenbach6'8" | PFMater Dei | 2021State#68Nation made it 3-for-3 for the Santa Ana Mater Dei program Thursday.
The 6-foot-9 senior, twice an all-CIF Open Division selection for the Monarchs, announced that he would be signing a National Letter of Intent next month with Coach Fred Hoiberg’s University of Nebraska program.
Breidenbach, who started as a freshman for a team that won the Southern Section’s Open Division title, becomes the third frontcourt player for Gary McKnight’s program to have committed to a NCAA Division I-affiliated program, joining Harrison HorneryHarrisonHornery6'9" | PFMater Dei | 2021State#164Nation (USC) and Nick DavidsonNickDavidson6'8" | PFMater Dei | 2021State#229Nation (Nevada).
He was a standout at events over the summer: the Pangos June 27 Best of Summer Showcase in Long Beach, CA, and the Sept. 12&13 Fullcourt Press/Pangos All-West Camp in St. George, UT.
Breidenbach, likely the best “post” in the Southern California Class of 2021 right now, has exceptional footwork, hand-eye coordination and shooting touch and range, lacking only the physical strength (he’s still well into the “slender” side of things) and bulk to get significant playing time in 2021-22 for the Big Ten-affiliated Huskers.
