Production factors in only when helping prove the potential is greater or lesser. Why did we rank these guys? Why are they at this spot? Take a look at four Class of 2023 prospects and learn a little about their reputation.
#9 Javar Daniel Javar Daniel 6'8" | PF Bartlett | 2023 State TN (Arlington)
Read the latest (late October) evaluation on Daniel from esteemed scout @CourtneyHoops90.
Javar Daniel, Arlington: Daniel is starting to get comfortable putting the ball on the floor. He’s starting to get comfortable taking mid-range jump shots. Daniel expanding his game will be beneficial in the long run. It will allow the Tigers to spread the floor, which in return, open up scoring lanes for the guards Arlington will have on the floor this upcoming season. Daniel contested some shots at the rim on Sunday, which is an area he was already striving in before his freshman season ended.
#10 Jamarion Harvey Jamarion Harvey 6'0" | SG Memphis East | 2023 State TN (Memphis East)
Trust the evaluation of Courtney Asher Smith on Harvey.
Jamarion Harvey, Memphis East: Harvey is a smooth operator with the basketball. I witnessed Harvey glide past defenders in transition for easy layups. I saw Harvey position himself in shooting motion on half-court possessions, where he benefited from, knocking down a couple of 3s in the corner. Another great asset about Harvey is that he can create off the dribble. The sophomore can be effective in half-court and up-tempo situations.
#11 Marcel Reed Marcel Reed 6'3" | SG M.B.A. (football) | 2023 State TN (M.B.A.)
Absurdly athletic. Marcel began his high school career as a starting quarterback for venerable private school Montgomery Bell Academy. He started for a then-young M.B.A. basketball team. He intends to take both basketball and football as far as they can take him. Few central Tennessee hoopers have been as so varsity-ready in the two sports so early in their careers. Reed will need only continue to devote himself away from the certain shine to fully reach his lofty potential. Wonderful teammate.
#12 Anthony Medlock Anthony Medlock 6'5" | SG Germantown | 2023 State TN (Arlington)
Explosive, as evidenced below. Medlock played quite a bit as a true freshman for a very good Arlington High School team last winter. Vanderbilt is in early with interest. Medlock puts in the work outside of his team’s practices and his height will help him attract more D1 attention.
