With the PrepHoops Alabama rankings set to drop any day, here are my predictions on what the top half of the top 10 could look like in the loaded 2022 class.
No. 1
Barry Dunning Barry Dunning 6'6" | NA lbs | SF McGill-Toolen | 2022 State #133 Nation AL , 6’6 SF, McGill-Toolen: This is a no-brainer at no.1. Not only is he the best player in the state in the class he is one of the top 25 prospects in the entire country. His length and skill at the wing position coupled with his ability to score in a variety of ways make him the clear cut #1 player in this class.
No. 2
Will Shaver Will Shaver 6'10" | NA lbs | C Oak Mountain | 2022 #130 Nation AL , 6’10 PF, Oak Mountain: With a host of High Major D1 offers already this big has shown leaps and bounds over the last year. His added mobility which is a direct effect of his obvious work to his body has made him an even more valuable player both on the inside and on the perimeter.
No. 3
Antonio Kite Antonio Kite 6'1" | NA lbs | PG Anniston | 2022 State #240 Nation AL , 6’2 PG, Anniston: This creative scoring lead guard has really shown the ability to simply be able to put the ball in the basket. He scores in a variety of ways whether off the bounce in iso situations or pushing the pace in the open floor. His added ability to find teammates has helped pick up some recent High Major D1 offers.
No. 4
Martavious Russell Martavious Russell 6'4" | NA lbs | SF Sipsey Valley | 2022 State #239 Nation AL , 6’4 CG, Sipsey Valley: I have been overly impressed with the play and development of MJ. His added ability to handle and distribute has made him a legit high-level prospect at the lead guard position. You see the work he has been putting in making himself a complete guard and not just an athletic wing. Big things expected in his junior season.
No. 5
J’Quan Broxson J’Quan Broxson 6'5" | NA lbs | SF Geneva County | 2022 #NA Nation AL , 6’6 SF, Geneva County: A grown man! His ability to play big boy bully basketball from the wing position is a nightmare to match up with. His added ability to knock down the 3 ball with consistency has made him a very interesting prospect. With continued work playing off the dribble he could also be hearing from High Majors by graduation.
