There was a ton of competition and hard play. Kids were playing together and really listening to our coaches and making sure they made plays in front of the many media members in the gym.
Here is a look at some of the steadiest shooters in attendance.
Joshua Higdon Joshua Higdon 6'3" | PG Parsons Christian | 2022 State FL | 6-3 | Parsons Christian
Pictured above, Higdon is one of the most underrated talents in the 2022 Florida class. He quietly gets it done. His strides as a defender are coming along and offensively, he is a locked-in shooter and a playmaker. He is getting stronger and certainly doesn’t play without confidence. Parsons Christian is going to lean on him yet again this season.
Keven St. Louis | 5-11 | Lake Nona
St. Louis is a versatile guard who hurt defenses in a variety of ways at the expo. The 2022 prospect made his shots off in-bound passes and simply created shots. He made openings for his teammates with smart passing and he got going as an attacker inside. Lake Nona has a special athlete in St. Louis.
Gabriel Gonzalez Gabriel Gonzalez 6'0" | CG Divine Savior Academy | 2021 State FL | 6-1 | Divine Savior
A gifted outside shooter, Gonzalez carried his jumper into every game at the expo. The 2021 guard did his part with that aspect and it was fun to watch. Open looks, created shots and quick feeds to him, it didn’t matter, the Divine Savior guard was hitting them. Gonzalez is one of the top pure shooters in the state.
Riley Fields Riley Fields 6'1" | PG Barron Collier | 2021 State FL | 6-1 | Barron Collier
Moving down from Michigan this summer, Fields is a true point guard who has a high IQ and a lot of energy. He has a smooth jumper and hit his open looks and created shots. The 2021 guard also scraps defensively and creates havoc with steals. Fields is going to be a standout for Barron Collier.
Giovanni Toscanini Giovanni Toscanini 6'4" | CG Lake Mary | 2022 State FL | 6-3 | Lake Mary
A wing from Lake Mary, Toscanini played hard the entire expo. He is a steady presence defensively as a shot blocker and offensively, he impressed me with his jump shot. The 2022 athlete is strong enough to create his own buckets on the attack and he did that, but his shot was on and I was intrigued by his polished game.
Andre Carter Jr Andre Carter Jr 6'3" | CG Leesburg | 2022 State FL | 6-2 | Leesburg
A lengthy guard and a speedy one at that, Carter is always looking to push the ball down the floor. He is a scrappy defender who generates turnovers often. The 2022 guard has a ton of skill as a shooter from the outside. He loves to hit 3’s from the corners and he was doing just that at the expo. Leesburg has a consistent shooter.
Malachi Moody Malachi Moody 6'1" | CG The Village School Of Naples | 2023 FL | 6-1 | The Village School of Naples
There was plenty to like in the game of Moody. He plays a bigger body spot at The Village School but at the expo, he was able to play his own individual game. He is unselfish as can be and finds plenty of openings to finish from the mid-range and with floaters. The 2023 guard is someone to watch closely.
