The competition at this event was the highest it has been and was an impressive showcase of all of the talent in the great state of Texas. Be on the lookout for the rest of my content, as I thoroughly cover this event.
Torrance Lattimore 2021 Wing
Torrance is a big bodied guard who is great at finishing underneath the basket. He has a great frame and size which scares opponents into jumping with him. He is a natural finisher on both sides of the rim and is great at getting downhill with a live dribble. He is a patient scorer underneath the basket, he waits for his opportunities to strike and does so aggressively. I would like to see him work on his pull up jumper and ability to stretch the floor.
Sway McFarlane 6’4 2021 Wing Southmoore High School
Sway is an athletic player who rebounds very well for his position. He is great at leaping with defenders and not going over there back to snatch rebounds from them. He came up with multiple offensive rebounds and extra possessions for his team, which is a skill that college coaches love. He has an unorthodox shooting release, but it goes in at a decent clip. I would like to see him work on his overall confidence as a ball handler and work on his driving ability.
Bradley Russell 2021 Wing
Bradley is a sharp shooting wing who shoots well from the corners and the wings. He has a quick release, allowing him to shoot over the top of defenders if they are half a step late. I was blown away by his shooting range and touch from all three levels of the game. He is the definition of a knockdown shooter, who moves without the ball like JJ Reddick. I would like to see him continue to develop as a playmaker, distributor and ball handler.
Jaylen Abii 2021 6’4 Liberty High School
Jaylen is a dynamic athlete who is very successful in the paint and is an intelligent scorer in the midrange. I was blown away with his length and ability to dominate in the midrange and high post areas. He torched smaller guards down low. He was a great example of a classic Demar Derozan type scorer. He is also a great playmaker and has real potential to become a combo guard at the next level. He is someone who can get you buckets off the bounce wherever around and inside the lane. I would like to see him develop as a set shooter, which should not be difficult given his silky smooth touch in the midrange already.
