Last season, Whit was one of the best players in the state and will look to contribute big minutes, points, and leadership again in the upcoming season for the Boise Brave. Miller will look to lead the Brave to a district title and a shot at the state championship this year during his senior season. Continue reading for a breakdown of his skills and abilities on both ends of the court.
Defense: Whit is a great defender for the Brave and he can guard any position on the floor. He has long arms and his 6’2″ frame allows him to tower over opposing guards. He uses those arms to contest shooters while also making sure to not give up easy driving lanes. He has great lateral quickness and can always keep his man in front. Against bigs, Miller does a great job of using his physical strength to overpower more frail big men and he can push them off the block. This forces them into tough shots where they are uncomfortable and helps the Brave turn their defense into offense. Miller is an excellent rebounder for a guard and he always crashes the glass on both ends of the floor looking for a board.
Offense: Miller is an excellent offensive player for the Boise Brave and he can score in a lot of different ways. Miller does a great job of driving to the rim where he can finish through contact with either hand. He has excellent patience and touch around the rim and can use a variety of pivots to find an easy route to score a basket. From mid-range, Miller has a smooth stroke and a high release that he can use to rise over smaller defenders. From the perimeter, Miller is always ready to catch and shoot and he is a constant threat from well beyond the arc. Each night, he draws the toughest defender and still finds a way to get the job done. As a passer, Whit has great vision and loves to kick the ball ahead in transition to his teammates.
Overall: Altogether, Whit is a very talented player that can do it all on both ends of the floor. Defensively, he can guard 1 through 5 and uses his toughness and physicality to bully offensive players. On offense, he is a threat from anywhere whenever he has the ball. Whit would make an excellent 2 or 3-guard at the next level.
