Defense: Stoddard is a solid defender for the Grizzlies. He has a solid build and is a strong guard that matches up well against any player on the floor. Against opposing guards, Stoddard has solid footwork that allows him to keep guards in front and he has quick reactions with his hands so that he can steal the ball or run through passing lanes to start a fast break. Against bigs and post players, Gage battles and works to push them off of the block while forcing them into difficult shots. He is a strong player that likes to use his physicality to his advantage to make other players back down. Stoddard is a solid rebounder and likes to go after boards that he knows he can easily secure on the defensive end.
Offense: Gage is a great offensive talent for the Grace Grizzlies. He averaged 20 points per game last season and will have another season this year to improve his scoring numbers. He has an excellent shot from outside and is comfortable shooting off the dribble or on the catch. He has solid handles that allow him to get to the rim or drive into a pull-up jumper where he can rise above defenders once he sees them get off balance. At the rim, Stoddard finishes with both hands equally well and likes to drive into the contact to get to the free throw line. Averaging 3 assists per game last season, Stoddard is a willing passer who always finds the open man and puts them into great scoring positions for easy baskets.
Overall: Altogether, Stoddard is an excellent player for the Grizzlies on both ends of the court. On the defensive side, Gage has the ability to guard any player on the opposing team and uses his physicality against bigger players. On offense, Gage is a gifted scorer at all levels and has the potential to blossom into an even more effective scorer this season. Stoddard would make a great 1 or 2 guard at the next level.
