Last season, Clark was a key player for the Sugar-Salem Diggers and contributed big points and minutes throughout the season. As the 2020-21 season quickly approaches, Crew will look to help the Diggers again this season on their run at a district title and an appearance at the state tournament. Continue reading for a breakdown of Crew’s skills and abilities on both ends of the floor.
Defense: Clark is a solid defender that can hold his own on the court. He has great footwork that allows him to keep opposing guards in front and he can consistently cutoff opposing guards from driving all the way to the basket. He has quick hands and reaction times that allow him to dive through passing lanes or tip the ball away from weak ball handlers. Against bigs, Clark is strong and can hold his own. He pushes them off of the block and uses leverage to force them into tough shots. One of his favorite tactics is fronting the post or attempting to work his away around to front which discourages the posts from taking easy shots. Crew is a solid rebounder and crashes the glass often.
Offense: Crew is a knockdown shooter, plain and simple. It is rare to see him play a game where he knocks down less than a handful of triples and he can get quick in a hurry. He has the mind of a shooter and always finds gaps in the defense that allow him to get open on the perimeter. His quick release is unguardable and he can shoot well beyond the perimeter with ease. His feet are always set and his hands are ready making him a threat at all times. If he does not shoot the jumper, Clark likes to drive to the basket or stop and pop for a mid-range jumper. He has great vision and is a willing passer as well.
Overall: Clark is a player that anyone would love to have on their team. A knockdown shooter who can also defend against any player is a rare find, especially in lower level divisions. I would expect Crew to continue improving his shot and scoring abilities while also becoming one of the key leaders for Sugar-Salem. Crew would make a great 2 guard at the next level.
