During last seasons campaign, Collin was one of the main sources of leadership and offensive output for the Lighthouse Christian Lions. In the upcoming season, Holloway will look to lead the Lions to a district championship and a shot at the state championship. Continue reading for a breakdown of Collin’s game from all aspects ahead of the 2020-21 basketball season.
Defense: Collin is a solid defender for the Lions. Lighthouse Christian likes to play a 3/4 court trap and Collin usually plays as a “free safety” in the back. He is an athletic defender and frequently grabs steals when he comes up from the back and runs through the passing lanes. On ball, he has quick hands that he uses to swipe the ball away from weak ball-handlers and he likes to tip the ball from behind as he runs back in transition defense. Against post players, Holloway fights hard but can sometimes get overpowered by much bigger players. He is strong for his size but the height advantage does give him difficulties. Collin rebounds very well for his position and is always attempting to find a way to secure a rebound so that he can start a fast break in the opposite direction.
Offense: Holloway is an excellent offensive talent with multiple ways to beat defenders in his bag of tricks. To begin, he is a dangerously good shooter from beyond the arc. Last season, he registered the majority of his games with at least 2 or 3 made three-pointers and he has the ability to get hot in a hurry. He takes open shots that he knows he can make and is an incredibly efficient scorer. Holloway also finishes well at the rim with either hand and is not afraid to drive to the paint or finish through contact. One of the most exciting aspects of Collin’s game is his passing ability. He loves to kick the ball ahead in transition and also dishes to open players in half court sets.
Overall: Putting his game altogether, Collin is a talented player that any coach would love to have on their side. Defensively, he is a hard-worker with a great sense of where the next pass will go. Offensively, he can knock down any shot and is a great passer that looks for his teammates in transition.
