Last season, Munyer helped lead the Lakeland Hawks and he will do so again this year as they shoot for a solid conference season and a run at the state tournament. Abe will look to increase his leadership and scoring roles in order to help the Hawks accomplish their goals. Continue reading for a breakdown of Abe’s skills and abilities from all angles.
Defense: Abe is a solid defender for the Hawks and matches up well with all players. At 6’4″, Abe has long arms that he uses to stand in passing lanes or block shots. Against guards, his footwork is solid enough to keep guards from driving around him and he uses his length to deter guards from shooting over the top of him. Against post players, he likes to play behind before using his size and strength to push posts off the block and makes sure to contest any shot that is taken. Whether in the post or on the perimeter, Munyer is comfortable and confident and will get the job done no matter who he defends. As a rebounder, Abe attacks the glass on both ends of the floor and is strong enough to grab rebounds with both hands.
Offense: Munyer is a special offensive talent. He has great coordination for his size and is effective anywhere on the floor. Beyond the arc, Abe has a great looking jump shot that he shoots with confidence either off of the dribble or on a catch and shoot opportunity. Munyer likes to use shot fakes and jab fakes to make his defenders get off-balance before driving past them. He loves the mid-range jumper and shoots over smaller defenders with ease. At the rim, Abe finishes with power and finesse. In the low post, the block, and the elbow, Munyer likes to use a fadeaway jumper that he has dialed in. Another aspect of Munyer’s excellent offensive game is his passing ability. He puts touch on his passes and routinely finds the right person with the right pass.
Overall: Munyer is a great player for the Lakeland Hawks and will help them out a lot in the upcoming season. He is a solid defender that gets the job done against anyone he guards. On the other side of the ball, Abe has a lot of talent that he uses to score at will. Munyer would make a great 2 or 3 guard at the next level.
