This expo gave several players the opportunity to showcase their skill set and also give viewers a chance to see the next wave of talent on the rise. Here are a few prospects that stood out most amongst the rest of the pack at the Top 250 Expo.
Kaden Shelburne Kaden Shelburne 6'0" | PG Rockwall | 2022 State TX – 6’0 – Point Guard – Rockwall High School – 2022
Kaden Shelburne Kaden Shelburne 6'0" | PG Rockwall | 2022 State TX was one of the top 3-point specialists in the entire expo. He may be a shooter, but it’s his slick shifty handles that were an issue for most defenses out there. Kaden had guys leaning and sliding left to right before getting to his spots inside or in the mid-range area. Shelburne’s a high-level shooter armed with a quick release and the ability to hit off-balance and contested shots. Kaden Shelburne Kaden Shelburne 6'0" | PG Rockwall | 2022 State TX was a very efficient scorer for someone who took a high number of jump shots.
Joshua Lawson – 6’8 – Power Forward – Fort Worth Christian School – 2021
This powerful power forward was a flat out punisher down low, you better watch your head or get out of the way when he’s coming down the lane. Lawson moved very well without the ball for a big man, he proved that he could run the court and even make timely cuts through the lane. His floaters and turn around hook shots were near unstoppable, he stretched his arms so high that defenders contesting his shot didn’t alter his view whatsoever. He excelled when establishing and holding his position, Joshua Lawson showed the ability to score over both shoulders with his back on the basket, and finish strong in the post over and through multiple defenders.
Jerry Shirer – 6’3 – Arlington Martin High School – 2022
Jerry Shirer plays with a great feel for the game, he was all over the court out there doing whatever it is the team needed of him. His best assets were his abilities to contribute across the board and communicate effectively, Shirer called out everything he saw on both offense and defense. Jerry Shirer didn’t have to force anything either, he took advantage of his opportunities, made the right plays, and made the simple plays count.
#87 – Point Guard
This talented young man shot the lights out all day long and he was absolutely on fire by the last game, breaking guys down at the top of the key then pulling up right in their face like it was nothing. A lethal pull-up and spot-up jump shooter with good form, and nice mechanics, his elevation allowed him to shoot over just about anyone from almost anywhere. He showed and proved to be a knockdown shooter and top-notch playmaker with very quick ball moves, his speed, confidence, determination, and IQ seemed like it intimidated most of his defenders. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the young man’s name but he still deserves the recognition, his play was outstanding and shouldn’t go unnoticed, he was by far one of the most impressive ballers of the day.
