Darrin Ames Darrin Ames 6'1" | PG Kenwood | 2023 State #99 Nation IL (Kenwood)
Ames was about as good as we have seen him this past weekend. His game is made for settings like this. The left handed thin bodied lead guard can flat out get buckets. That is exactly what he did throughout the camp. Slithered through the defense for layups. His three ball was falling at a nice clip so he kept pulling up from deep for those. Pushes it with speed in the open floor either getting to the rim or finding teammates for buckets. He has that “it” factor you just can’t teach.
Ahmad Henderson Ahmad Henderson 5'10" | PG Brother Rice | 2023 State #291 Nation IL (Brother Rice)
Henderson shined this summer with the Illinois Hoopstars and had two primetime performances on a big stage. The 5’9” lead guard drilled three after three after three. Shifty playmaker that works well around ball screens either driving, shooting, or dishing. One of the better Catholic League guards next season regardless of class.
Xavier Sulaiman Xavier Sulaiman 6'3" | SG Oak Lawn | 2023 State IL (Marist)
The Marist 6’2” guard has a long and slender build. Shot maker that can drill threes with a beautiful looking three point stroke from beyond the arc. Good ball handler especially in the open floor where he can get to the rim finishing acrobatic layups. Passing feel continues to improve making a couple nice passes in the pick/roll.
Trey Hays (St. Ignatius)
This 5’8” point guard brings toughness in the backcourt despite his lack of ideal size. Crisp mid-range jump shot and could emerge down the line for the Catholic League program on the rise.
Jalen Griffith Jalen Griffith 5'9" | PG Simeon | 2023 State IL (Simeon)
Griffith is a small guard, but the shifty playmaker gets others involved with his passing. Most of the camp he was a distributor including in the Top 30 game where he drew defenders and found his big men for dunks. Also does a nice job of getting in the lane with his tight handles for layups, runners, and scoop shots.
Brock Harding Brock Harding 6'0" | PG Moline | 2023 State #222 Nation IL (Moline)
Harding looked good at the Stealth Runs and continued his momentum from that event. The floor general worked well in ball screen situations reading them and making sound decisions off of them. Good entry passer to his post players. Knocked down mid-range jumpers for days. Overall nice feel for the game.
Darien Singleton (Mascoutah)
The 5’11” metro east point guard steadily got better over the course of the camp. Shifty ball handler that has it on a string. Handles it well in and out of traffic. Sound jump shooter that made them stopping and popping from mid-range and three. Will combine with 2022 Justin King Justin King 6'4" | PG Mascoutah | 2022 State IL to form a dynamic backcourt this season.
Kaiden Space Kaiden Space 6'2" | SG St.Rita | 2023 State IL (St. Rita)
Space is more of a combo than a true point. The 6’0” guard has a nice build with good length. Seems to have thinned out since we saw him last. Smart guard who plays with pace. Uses his size to his advantage against weaker guards. Mid-range jumper is one of his biggest strengths as he pulls up over opponents for points. Sound decision maker as a passer. Also won off the bounce a few times completing spinning layups in the lane. With so many young wings and big men in the St. Rita program Space is going to be important for the Mustangs going forward!
Marcus Pigram Marcus Pigram 6'3" | SG Whitney Young | 2023 State IL (Whitney Young)
It was a bit of an up and down camp for Pigram, but what we liked about his game was how he was willing to rebound from his guard spot. Got in the paint from the perimeter and was a very tough rebounder getting tip ins and put backs.
Tevonta Jackson Tevonta Jackson 6'1" | PG Roosevelt | 2023 State IA (Springield Lanphier)
Jackson is an athletic point guard from central Illinois power Springfield Lanphier. Got to the rim where he finished with acrobatic layups. Very good body control in the paint. Burst with the ball in his hands pushing in the open floor. Also would knock down an occasion three point shot.
Isaiah Giles Isaiah Giles 5'7" | PG Westinghouse | 2023 IL (Westinghouse)
We saw this 5’10” guard earlier this spring and the bowling ball of a guard is a high motor player that likes his pull up game including stopping and popping from three.
Dalen Davis Dalen Davis 6'0" | PG Whitney Young | 2023 State #167 Nation IL (Whitney Young)
Davis is a top 10 prospect in the Illinois 2023 class. His stop and pop jumper is a major force in his game. Drilled deep threes along with 15 footers with regularity. It was his ability to get to the rim whenever he wanted that shined the most. He has a burst with the ball in his hands and an instinctive ability to finish through and around big men despite his smaller stature.
DeAndre Craig DeAndre Craig 5'11" | PG Mt. Carmel | 2023 State IL (Mt. Carmel)
Craig is a slender built 5’9” point guard that is a slick ball handler and uses that to get where he needs to do his damage. Gets in the paint on straight line takes. The solid athlete likes to finish in the lane with runners. Also has a knack for using his quick hands to create turnovers on the defensive end.
Maurice Thomas (DePaul Prep)
Most of the top point guards from Illinois were established names coming in. Thomas was not and he made quite an impression including getting in the Top 30 game. This 5’11” lead guard was dynamic getting in the lane making plays for himself and others. Good passing feel dishing the rock to his teammates for scores. Should see minutes as a reserve on a loaded DePaul Prep team.
