Javonte Taylor Javonte Taylor 6'7" | PF Donda Academy | 2023 #41 Nation CA-S (Kenwood – 2023)
Taylor was the best in-state prospect throughout the camp. It wasn’t really even close. The top ranked 2023 prospect put on a show in the Top 30 game. Scored in the post, cleaned up on the offensive glass, hit deep threes, and got out in transition for scores. Tremendous combination of size, athleticism, and skill.
Darrin Ames Darrin Ames 6'1" | PG Kenwood | 2023 State #99 Nation IL (Kenwood – 2023)
Ames was very good all weekend as well. The Morgan Park transfer to Kenwood is a slick handling southpaw that hits the hole in the defense and accelerates through it for layups. Plus three point shooter both pulling up and off the catch. Playmaker with the rock in his hands scoring or dishing.
Tevonta Jackson Tevonta Jackson 6'1" | PG Roosevelt | 2023 State IA (Springfield Lanphier – 2023)
Jackson is an athletic point guard from central Illinois power Springfield Lanphier. Got to the rim where he finished with acrobatic layups. Very good body control in the paint. Burst with the ball in his hands pushing in the open floor. Also would knock down an occasion three point shot.
Jalen Griffith Jalen Griffith 5'9" | PG Simeon | 2023 State IL (Simeon – 2023)
Griffith is a small guard, but the shifty playmaker gets others involved with his passing. Most of the camp he was a distributor including in the Top 30 game where he drew defenders and found his big men for dunks.
Chiang Ring (South HS, MN – 2024)
Ring was outstanding in the Top 30 game. He stands at 6’8” heading into high school and was very impactful on both ends of the floor. Big time rim protector on the defensive end. Got on the glass for put backs. Showed skill too with a couple nice post moves including an up and under. Passing feel for a big man hitting guys on the move.
Baye Fall (Lutheran, CO – 2023)
Fall lived up to the billing this weekend. The near 7’0” five man is so agile in the paint. He finishes with thunderous slams and is very active on the offensive glass. Also showed some touch on a turnaround jumper. Elite shot blocker with considerable defensive upside!
Owen Freeman Owen Freeman 6'10" | C Moline | 2023 State #179 Nation IL (Bradley Bourbonnais – 2023)
It was another big day for the Bradley Bourbonnais standout. The 6’9” five man came out aggressive in the 8:15 AM game. High/low seal, ran the floor hard for a dunk, and showed his touch around the basket. Really good rebounder that crashed the glass with strength and athleticism.
Evan Jackson (St. Rita – 2023)
At 6’6” this is another four man to track for the Mustangs. Good athlete with long arms and has a relentless nature on the glass. Was very active around the hoop keeping balls alive.
Christopher Riddle (Kenwood – 2024)
Riddle is a 6’4” wing that has quite a bit of buzz as one of the better incoming freshman in the state. We saw some of those tools on Sunday. Strong bodied wing that has skill to match. Capable three point shooter. Good first step off the bounce and has the ability to finish through contact in the paint. Rebounds well for a wing.
Miles Rubin Miles Rubin 6'7" | PF Homewood Flossmoor | 2023 State #243 Nation IL (Homewood Flossmoor – 2023)
Another strong day for Rubin. The Homewood Flossmoor 6’7” four man displayed his mobility and skill on the offensive end with an array of scores although he did miss a few bunnies. Big time shot blocker that has excellent timing and feel defensively.
Xavier Thomas (Brother Rice, MI – 2023)
Thomas is a thick bodied 6’5” four man that can let it fly from the perimeter knocking down an array of threes. Light on his feet and has quality length.
Raeshom Harris Raeshom Harris 6'4" | SG Bloom | 2023 State IL (Bloom – 2023)
Harris is a slick ball handing combo guard that was effective both on and off the ball. Consistently slithered through the defense getting to the foul line or scoring in the paint. Worked well in the pick and roll with top 2024 James Brown setting him up with good passes.
Payton Kamin (DePaul Prep – 2024)
Kamin is a prospect we have heard is one of the premier incoming freshman shooters in the state. That checked out when we saw him at Pangos. The 6’3” shooting guard was excellent spotting up from beyond the arc with a free and easy release. Also flashed creativity as a distributor and mixed in a couple layups.
Ty Pence Ty Pence 6'4" | SG St. Joseph Ogden | 2023 State IL (St. Joseph Ogden – 2023)
This central Illinois guard is tough as nails. Quality skill set to go along with that. Sound form on his jump shot from beyond the arc. Had a couple tough finishes in the paint and continued to show he can pass the ball with flair.
Richard Barron Richard Barron 6'5" | SF St. Ignatius | 2023 State IL (St. Ignatius – 2023)
Barron is a big bodied wing from St. Ignatius. Played well on both sides of the ball in the game we saw. Offensively he showed he can hit from distance and play above the rim in transition. Rebounds at a high rate for a wing especially crashing the offensive glass. Displayed some of the tools we have been waiting for him to show with his activity level defensively.
Kuba Senczyszyn (Dundee Crown – 2023)
At 6’5” this Dundee Crown four man can handle it as a face up four. Fouled multiple times on drives from the high-post area. Finishes with bounce around the hoop. Has some explosive athleticism.
Jake Hamilton Jake Hamilton 6'3" | SG Sacred Heart Griffin | 2023 State IL (Sacred Heart Griffin – 2023)
Hamilton is a skilled and crafty small forward that loves to score in the paint with nifty finishes. Spin move in the lane is one of his go to moves and can also post up smaller defenders. Hit a three as well. Tough kid!
