Garrison debuts at the No. 2 spot in our latest rankings update after numerous big-time performances during the summer with Trae Young Elite.
The kid is a natural, albeit some of his tendencies are unpolished, he has that size that you cannot teach paired with a great drive for the game, desire to improve and vision for his future. He was most impressive when playing with controlled defensive aggression as few players in his age division could really post him up and score consistently.
Garrison can, of course, also score the basketball, and has power to mix with his developing post skills. Looking toward the future, Garrison could be one of the better true post prospects in recent memory.
No. 5 — Trent Pierce Trent Pierce 6'6" | SF Union | 2023 State #73 Nation OK | 6’5″ Union SF |
An able-bodied, born scorer, Pierce fits the bill for slender, stretchy swing forwards with just as much potency at the perimeter as they have in the interior. If you have not seen him yet, it would be worth a trip down 71st street to evaluate his talents.
I first saw him during a private workout in Tulsa, then periodically throughout the summer with OK PWP, and he thoroughly convinced the Prep Hoops Oklahoma staff that his potential is through the roof.
Pierce has surprising agility, mobility and feel for the floor in contrast with many players his age with similar stature who are less polished. He can shoot the ball with sufficient consistency, and he has a deep bag of scoring maneuvers. He also passes and rebounds pretty well, and is mostly pretty selfless with the ball in his hands considering his talents.
Another interesting storyline to consider is his inflated role within the Redskins’ game-plan in the upcoming season. After graduating their starting five, Pierce will be thrown into the fire after receiving bench minutes as a freshman. If Pierce can rise to that occasion, it could do great favors for his recruiting.
