Freeman has all of the athletic tools you could dream to have, and his work ethic matches his kinetic prowess. That is why we write about him almost every weekend. Freeman was stellar on both ends of the floor last weekend, especially scoring the basketball. He backed and powered his way through smaller, nimbler defenders and finessed his way around bigger defenders in the paint, often elevating for the slam with even just inches of room to play with. He also maintained his perimeter threat by knocking down some shots and hitting some one-dribble pull-ups. Defensively, he was a wrecking ball for his team as he repeatedly smacked and swatted away opposing shots. The 6-foot-4-inch swingman measured a maximum vertical of 35 inches. What is most surprising is that it hardly took anybody by surprise.
Jake Gendron Jake Gendron 6'5" | SF Bishop Kelley | 2021 State OK — Bishop Kelley 2021 SF |
Gendron solidified what we have already established about him: he can do a lot of things with the basketball at a college level. He can shoot the ball at an elite level from the 3-point line, though he is no stranger to taking the ball to the rack as he converted on a few powerful slams at the combine. Defensively, Gendron is a reliable, capable presence to limit opposing wings and guards, and he can protect the rim, as well.
Raul Nunez Raul Nunez 6'4" | CG Choctaw | 2021 State OK — Choctaw 2021 CG |
A capable scoring guard who can handle floor general duties, Nunez played exceptionally at the showcase. He measured at 6-foot-2-inches, 181 pounds, with a lot of strength and agility. He got to the rack, shot well from deep, converted on tough shots against contest, passed the ball and defended well at the event.
Landry Harris Landry Harris 5'11" | PG Edmond North | 2021 State OK — Edmond North 2021 PG |
Harris was able to penetrate the opposing defenses to dish the ball or score. He is most comfortable at top gear, and his pace-of-play may be his best tool, the selling point of his whole game. Shooting the ball, Harris has a quick release and was able to make plays in just inches of space from the mid-range and the 3-point line.
Bryce Journee Bryce Journee 6'4" | SF Owasso | 2021 State OK — Owasso 2021 SG |
Journee’s progression from the summer-to-last weekend has been remarkable; though he may have always had the skill-set, it is his confidence that has taken his game to new heights. Standing about 6-foot-4-inches, Journee has a very fluid game on the perimeter with versatility to utilize his skills in the mid-range and interior, as well. He shot the ball well, defended exceptionally, and of course got the ball above the rim a few times. His ascension should put him in excellent standing in regards to his recruitment, and the Rams should be just as excited for the upcoming season.
Marcal Johnson Marcal Johnson 5'11" | PG Tulsa Rogers | 2021 State OK — Tulsa Rogers 2021 PG |
Marcal was playing more like Magic at the event as he routinely made light work of opposing defenses on the pass, orchestrating the offense and facilitating the offense smoothly. Johnson has great awareness for the floor, and that trait combined with his altruistic sense for the game as well as his acceleration from the handle made it almost too easy for his teammates to score the basketball.
