With that in mind, here’s a look at some of the top forwards in Region 6
Isaiah Bundy-Smith Isaiah Bundy-Smith 6'4" | PF Rugby | 2021 State ND , Rugby
Bundy-Smith has started each of the last two years for a loaded Rugby team and because of lack of opportunity, his numbers have been a bit suppressed. He’ll be one of the featured pieces for the Panthers as a senior. At 6-foot-6, he’s got the talent to be the best forward in the region. He’s capable of creating his own shot in the low and mid posts, he’s a good passer and he’s athletic.
Levi Weekley, Our Redeemer’s
Weekley’s been a key player for the Knights each of the last two years and should be one of the featured offensive players as a senior. At 6-foot-5, Weekley is a matchup nightmare because he combines shooting range out of the 3-point line with the ability to get into the post and score over smaller defenders. He’s also developed into a solid interior defender, using his length to contest shots at the rim and rebound in and out of his area.
Kaden Chadwick Kaden Chadwick 6'5" | C Velva | 2022 State ND , Velva
Chadwick’s ascension into a double-double machine was a key for the Aggies becoming a contender in Region 6 last season. He’s a load in the paint, possessing size and strength that few teams are equipped to handle. He’s active on the offensive glass and does a great job catching and finishing everything in the paint.
Adam Schepp, Velva
Schepp’s one of the featured offensive players for the Aggies and consistently supplies double-figure scoring from everywhere inside the 3-point line. He’s a matchup nightmare for opponents because he’s strong and active but also skilled and capable of creating his own offense. He joins Chadwick up front to form one of the best interior duos in the state – which gives Velva hope of contention in Region 6.
Hunter Fletschock Hunter Fletschock 6'6" | SF Drake-Anamoose | 2021 State ND , Drake-Anamoose
Fletschock was an all-district player last year for the Raiders after averaging better than 16 points and five rebounds per game, teaming up with Payton Martin Payton Martin 6'2" | PG Drake-Anamoose | 2021 State ND to form one of the best duos in the region. At 6-foot-5, he’s one of the toughest players in the region to guard because he’s got perimeter skills and shooting ability but also the toughness to get to the paint. Drake-Anamoose won 18 games last season and finished third in the region. The Raiders should be considered a contender (along with Velva, ORCS and Rugby) in large part because of Fletschock and Martin.
Cole Slaubaugh, Rugby
Slaubaugh transferred to Rugby last season and wasted little time becoming a valuable rotation piece, averaging nine points and six rebounds for the team that won the Region 6 championship. He’ll pair with Bundy-Smith up front this winter to form one of the best duos in the region. Slaubaugh is a solid athlete who finishes at the rim at a high level while also possessing a soft touch in the mid-range.
