With that in mind, here’s a look at some of the teams that should be improved in 2020-21:
Northern Cass
The Jaguars were competitive in Region 1 last year, winning 14 games. They’ve got the talent to make noise in what should be a loaded region this winter though, as they’ve got one of the best guards in the state in Jase Crockett Jase Crockett 5'10" | PG Northern Cass | 2021 State ND . He’s not alone though, as Kolby Vander Wal Kolby Vander Wal 6'1" | SG Northern Cass | 2021 State ND is one of the best two-way wings in the region. And there’s young talent that should continue rising with guys like Leighton Strommen and Jonathan Rietschel.
Linton/HMB
The Lions were middling in Region 3 last year, winning 13 games and reaching the region tournament. Don’t be surprised if they are closer to contention this winter as Lucas Schumacher Lucas Schumacher 6'2" | SG Linton | 2021 State ND is arguably the best individual player in the area. He’s able to control the game as much as any individual player in Class B. Carter Renz Carter Renz 6'3" | SF Linton/HMB | 2021 State ND is one of the top swingmen in the region and there’s a lot of experience coming back.
Velva
The Aggies were competitive in Region 6 last year and there’s cause for a lot of optimism as the whole team is set to return. It starts inside for Velva, as Kaden Chadwick Kaden Chadwick 6'5" | C Velva | 2022 State ND and Adam Schepp form a punishing duo in the paint. Jersey Selzler is an excellent floor general who is solid on both ends of the floor. Hunter Suckut is a solid complementary guard who provides shooting and Gage Florence is an experienced guard who does a little bit of everything. It’s a complete team that could be among the favorites in the region.
