Conner Barney of Fond du Lac Ojibwe. What Caught My Eye?
Conner was one of the biggest eye openers of the event. He was shadowing and annoying players with his defense and hard charging to the rim offensively. He is coming off of a 25 point per game sophomore year with his physical style and expectations are for an even bigger year.
Muja Burton Muja Burton 6'4" | SF Columbia Heights | 2022 State MN of Columbia Heights. What Caught My Eye?
Two things on Burton: 1) his attacking dribble covers so much ground that a defender has trouble catching up to it which allows Muja to attempt that jumper or advance the ball. Uses to score often. 2) uses his active length very well to block shots all over the court, and get deflections. Big potential to be an excellent defender.
Jasper Hedin Jasper Hedin 6'5" | SF Winona | 2022 State MN of Winona. What Caught My Eye?
Help defenses had the worst time with Jasper. He’s so quick to get to a position to get off the ground before the help can move in and make a play. Has one of the best extensions to finish while gliding to the rim that you will see. Much, much better ball handler than I was aware of and if I’m seeing this right Jasper made over 40 percent of his threes last year. Very quick to get his feet set and the release is beautiful. Major stock raisers to have an eye on.
Camden Holter Camden Holter 6'3" | SG Minneapolis Southwest | 2022 State MN of Holy Angels. What Caught My Eye?
For me it’s about how Camden moves and how his skills have improved. The word “glides” comes to mind every time I see him push the ball and lift to the rim moving by defenders. But I also want to say that Camden’s ball handling and shooting have taken a step.
Malcolm Jones Malcolm Jones 6'9" | C Prior Lake | 2022 State MN of Prior Lake. What Caught My Eye?
Jones is so quick to release an attempt from anywhere. Malcolm has a really nice touch that is added by a nice speedy release. He’s a window artist from anywhere 13 feet and in plus if he’s balanced Malcolm is so quick to touch in shots that often the defenders can’t react.
Jackson Loge Jackson Loge 6'7" | C Morris Area | 2022 State MN of Morris Area. What Caught My Eye?
An absolute master of the pivot foot few players in the state of Minnesota are Loge’s equal when it comes to using the pivot foot to create space. He will turn on a pivot three times in one possession and have his man’s head spinning. The spin move is beautiful, the pivot to get to the other side of the rim is high percentage, and so often Loge is able to step through problems using the pivot to find success.
Tyler Swanson of Lakeville South. What Caught My Eye?
Tyler is so much quicker with the attack than I first understood. He was exploding past defenders in a moments notice and at times was purely unstoppable as he went at the rim. There is more explosive potential to Tyler than I was aware of.
