A few seniors stood out for their performance in the one-day showcase. Here is the Senior All-Star Team from the Kansas Top 250 Expo:
Point Guard – Alston Mason Alston Mason 6'2" | CG Blue Valley Northwest | 2021 State KS , Blue Valley Northwest:
Max Alexander Max Alexander 6'0" | PG Next Level Prep | 2022 KS filled it up and deserves consideration at this spot. Luke Williams Luke Williams 6'0" | PG Olathe South | 2021 State KS showed off his talent as well. But Mason simply does what he wants on the court, and his playmaking ability gets others involved. Mason has the uncanny ability to break down a defense and get into openings, where he can score or find teammates for shots.
Shooting Guard – Carter Reid Carter Reid 6'0" | SG Bishop Carrol | 2021 State KS , Carrol:
The 6-foot Reid plays bigger than his height because he’s so athletic and versatile. He can battle in the lane, hold his own on the glass, and his combination of quickness and strength make him a tough defender. He plays with a reckless abandon and has fun on the court. He brings a diversity of talents to the guard spot that make him a good compliment to a dynamic point guard.
Small Forward – Tanner Hecht Tanner Hecht 6'5" | CG Wamego | 2021 State KS , Wamego:
Hecht shot the lights out in KC. No surprise. He’s one of the elite shooters in the state. Hecht is an athlete and at 6-foot-5 creates a ton of problems for defenders. He’s smooth and can really get up, so he is much more than just a shooter. Alex Littlejohn Alex Littlejohn 6'5" | CG Bishop Carrol | 2021 State KS and Preston Reynolds Preston Reynolds 6'4" | CG Shawnee Mission East | 2021 State KS are a couple of small forwards who deserve note, but Hecht gets the nod for his 3-point display.
Power Forward – Jack Chapman Jack Chapman 6'5" | CG Blue Valley Northwest | 2021 State KS , Blue Valley Northwest:
Chapman was perhaps the most impressive player at the KC event. He is one of the most versatile players in the state. At 6-foot-7, he can be a force in the lane at both ends. But he could be considered a shooting guard or a small forward, because he can handle the ball end to end, and he is a lights out shooter. It seemed every game he had numerous threes and an equal number of dunks.
Center – Will Townsend Will Townsend 6'8" | PF Shawnee Mission East | 2021 State KS , Shawnee Mission East:
Townsend is not purely a center, but he was probably the most dominant post at the Expo. The 6-foot-7 senior demonstrated a variety of quality post moves and he dominated on the glass. He blocked a few shots at the rim, and intimidated shooters around the goal. He is good at hauling in a rebound and immediately looking up court for long outlets. He also runs well and has a quality mid-range shot.
