Continue ReadingTransfers have always been a thing across the state. This year seems like it has gone to another level. Particularly with the players that have decided to leave the state. PHI takes a look at the impactful transfers that have been announced to date they are leaving the Land of Lincoln. Here we dive into the Impact Out of State Transfers!
2021
Ismail Habib (Lincoln Park to Bishop Walsh, MD)
This D1 commit was excellent leading Lincoln Park to a fantastic season before their year was cut short. He will be going to Bishop Walsh in Maryland for his senior campaign.
Jaylin Gibson (Evanston to Legacy The School of Sports, TX)
Gibson was one of my favorite players in the class because of his ability to stuff the stat sheet game in and game out. He is a winner that would have gone down as one of the best Evanston players ever if he led them back to state this year.
Rickey Woods Rickey Woods 6'5" | SG Bloomington | 2021 IL (Washington to Eduprize, AZ)
Woods is an explosive two guard that can score from multiple levels. He had tentatively planned on making the move to Bloomington before ultimately opting for the Arizona program that developed former Illinois prospect Shon Robinson.
Biggie Luster (Rockford East to Trotwood Madison, OH)
Luster is a small scoring guard that can light it up with his lefty jumper. Leaving Rockford East heading to Ohio.
Shaun Riley (O’Fallon to Anacocco, LA)
Riley was one of the first transfers in the class. The bouncy four man would have made O’Fallon the team to beat in the metro east. He transferred to a school in Louisiana.
Kai Evans (Bolingbrook to Trinity International, NV)
Evans noted the Covid and the concerns over the season played a huge role in his decision to leave powerhouse Bolingbrook for Trinity International in Nevada. Evans is a strong wing with D1 ability.
Brady Ruggles Brady Ruggles 6'6" | SG Danville | 2022 State IN (Wheaton Warrenville South to Danville, IN)
Ruggles recently made the move across the state line to Indiana. Plus shooter that can fill it up from deep.
Donald Coats Donald Coats 6'7" | SF Thornton | 2021 IN (Thornton to Warren Central, IN)
Coats has already committed to John A Logan for his post college basketball, but he will also be making a move for his senior year to Warren Central in Indianapolis.
2022
Trey Pettigrew (Fenwick to Hillcrest Prep, AZ)
Pettigrew had a stranglehold on the #2 spot in the 2022 class in Illinois after a strong sophomore season. The dynamic three level bucket getter made the call to play at Hillcrest Prep in Arizona for his junior year.
Braxton Stacker (Belleville East to Cardinal Ritter, MO)
Stacker was rumored to transfer before the school year even ended at Belleville East. There was talk he would stay in the metro east, but he ended up opting for Cardinal Ritter across the river. Explosive two way wing that has a high ceiling.
Nigel Hylton Nigel Hylton 6'9" | PF Golden State Prep (CA) | 2022 IL (Lake Forest Academy to Thornlea, CAN)
Hylton moved in from Canada for his sophomore season earning a top 10 ranking before going right back for his junior year. Makes sense for him to go back home with the uncertainty surrounding this season in Illinois.
AJ Storr AJ Storr 6'3" | SG Kankakee | 2021 IL (Kankakee to Bishop Gorman, NV)
Storr was actually a 2021 prospect that was primed to jump way up in the rankings after a dominant summer for the Illinois Hoopstars. Instead the strong bodied small forward opted to attend west coast power Bishop Gorman while reclassifying to 2022.
Brenden Moss (Rockford Jefferson to Minnesota Prep Academy)
Moss emerged late in the process this summer as a wiry left handed wing for the Illinois Stars. After his strong play at a PHC event in Minnesota it was local Minnesota Prep Academy that scooped him up as he decided to reclass to 2022.
2023
Jeremy Fears Jeremy Fears 6'1" | PG La Lumiere | 2023 GA (Joliet West to La Lumiere, IN)
This one went down last week as the #2 overall prospect in the sophomore class announced that he will be playing this season at national power La Lumiere in Indiana. It sounds like he could very well return to play his final two seasons at Joliet West.
