There were plenty of top players, as well as newcomers who stood out at this event. Here are some of the players who had a good day.
SFBC
King Wilhite King Wilhite 6'1" | PG Archbishop Riordan | 2023 NV 6’0 Guard 2023
Wilhite had his full game on display working as the teams primary ball handler at this event. He made every effort to involve his new teammates with timely passes, at the same time letting defenders know he could go get a bucket when the situation called for it. Right now with his ability to score and attack from most angles he would be effective at either guard spot on his new team. He’s one of NorCal’s top prospects in this 2023 class. He has been offered by Washington State, more are on the way.
Mor Seck Mor Seck 7'1" | C Archbishop Riordan | 2021 State CA-N k 7’1 Forward/Center 2022
Seck standing at 7’1 will attract a lot of coaches, and scouts to the Bay Area no doubt. He’s a top recruit in 2022. He’s on an upward path, and is making good progress in his development. He plays with good intensity, and will be very difficult for any team to deal with on both ends of the court. His footwork is better, his new jumper in the key went in, and he executed the pick and roll with some success.
Pablo Avalos 6’4 Wing 2021
Avalos was active on both ends of the floor, he has a good understanding of the game and showed himself to be a solid player for his team. He made good passes, took good shots, and helped on the boards. He has good footspeed, he runs the floor in transition, and can guard multiple positions.
Pacers Basketball Academy
Jordan Bobo Jordan Bobo 6'7" | SF Grant | 2023 State CA-N 6’7 Wing/Forward 2023
Bobo has made good improvements in his game since last season. He’s stronger, gets up and down the court with a purpose, whether handling the ball or getting to spots for shots. The 6’7 wing can shoot 3’s from the corner or wing. He did a nice job taking it to the the big guys at the rim. He defended in the post and hit the boards.
Rishod Brown 6’3 Guard 2022
Brown is fast and has good quickness. He was speedy with the ball leading the transition break, he made good decisions when he had the ball, when he didn’t he filled the lanes in transition slicing and dicing his way to the bucket. He was one of the better defenders at this event, his quickness and length, and ability to guard multiple positions was noticeable.
Cory Yerger 6’3 Guard 2021
One of NorCal’s top players in this 2021 class, has reached that level of confidence knowing that he can turn the game at any moment with his ability to score points in a variety of ways for his team when called upon.
Port City
Andre Warren Andre Warren 6'3" | CG Lincoln Stockton | 2022 State CA-N 6’3 Guard 2022
Warren is a player to keep an eye, he’s a rising player in the class of 2022. He’s faster than he looks, and pretty good in the open court, playing wide open and at a fast pace works for him, yet was effective in the half-court. He’ll make you pay if you don’t guard him on the wings. He’s constantly in motion, and is a solid passer.
Ben Almaraz 6’1 Guard 2021
Like Warren, Almaraz was a constant mover with and without the ball, he too thrives in the open court, with good speed and handles, he’s hard to contain when he’s going forward. He plays fast, but under control, and can shoot the ball from three as well as take it to the paint for buckets.
Malik Cotta 6’1 Point Guard 2021
Cotta is underrated as a point guard. He has the tools to be a quality performer at the position. A strong player with a solid body, good handles, and vision. He’s an effective passer looking to get teammates involved. He was effective leading the transition break, knocking down the mid range jumper, and could readily finish in the key.
Sacramento Basketball Club
Ben Rosenborough 6’3 Guard 2024
There’s a good chance that Rosenborough is the top player in this NorCal 2024 class. He has size, strength, and can score in multiple ways that sets him apart. He has the handles and strength to force his way to the basket buckets, he has the mid range game working with the one bounce, and he’ll pull up over you to hit the 3. He can score!
Malik Madison 6’8 Forward/Center 2021
Madison did a good job of defending 7’1 Seck, and being an effective post defender at this event. He’s strong, physical and moves pretty well going after rebounds. He hit the turnaround jumper in the key, and he hit a couple short corner shots from the base line. A good player to keep an eye on. He was pretty active on both ends.
Amarion Sanders 6’0 Point Guard 2022
Sanders did a good job of defending the other teams primary ball handlers. He picks at the inbounds and hounds them up the court, his speed, and lateral movement allows him to stay in front, very disruptive. He has good handles and is a solid passer who uses his speed to get to the paint.
Don’t Forget
Alex Maze 6’3 Shooting Guard 2021, Sacramento Basketball Club
Maze was a steady performer at this event. He has the capabilities to knock down shots from a distance, and be a bucket getter when he has the ball in his hands. He’s a decent defender, and was able to sneak in for a couple rebounds and put backs. He can score in a hurry if he gets it going. He needs show a bit more energy.
Jayson Mathews 5’11 Point Guard 2022, Pacer basketball Academy
A solid ball handler who looks to score it when he has the opportunity, he can break down his defender, get to paint, dish or score depending on the defense. He can direct the offense in the half court. He has good foot speed and can stay with most ball handlers.
Luca Davis Luca Davis 6'4" | SF Grant | 2022 State CA-N 6’3 Wing 2022, Pacer Basketball Academy
Davis a good size player is still finding his way with his new team. He’s a solid all around player that doesn’t have to score to be effective on the court. He can handle on the break, make good passing decisions, and will defend and rebound. Glue guy ?
Marcelas Franklin 6’6 Guard/Forward, Sacramento Basketball Club
Franklin a solid contributor who’ll defend and rebound for his team, he’s an effective defender in the post and can guard away from the basket as well, he has an improving low post game, that will give him a shot at being a double double guy.
The New Comer
Zion Sensley 6’7 Shooting Guard/ Wing 2024 SFBC
My first opportunity to see Sensley. He’s long wiry and is a shooter, he has good form, and hit a couple of deep 3’s throughout this event. He’s still finding his way but the potential is there. He spots ups well in the corner and on the wings, and can hit it. His length on the defensive end helped in the passing lanes. I’ll see more of him.
