Grand Western Classic: Knockdown Shooters
The Grand Western Classic was a great event that had a ton of talent. And with that talent there where a ton knockdown shooters who had teams rushing the three point line.
Here are our picks for the top shooters from the event out in American Fork, Utah.
Elijah Knudsen Elijah Knudsen 5'10" | CG Mead | 2022 State CO – Pro Skills Denver
Elijah Knudsen Elijah Knudsen 5'10" | CG Mead | 2022 State CO was probably the best shooter on the weekend. He blew one game against Prolific Select for 43 points, making 11 of his 15 attempts from three point land. Elijah is a knockdown shooter from the outside who can play a little bit of point guard as well. He hits shots off of the dribble with step backs and crossovers to create space to get off his shot. His release is very quick and allows him to hit contested shots. Elijah is a microwave type once he gets hot he is hard to stop, which he obviously proved this past weekend.
Skylar Wilson Skylar Wilson 6'7" | PF Colorado Prep | 2021 CO – Southern California Academy
Skylar Wilson Skylar Wilson 6'7" | PF Colorado Prep | 2021 CO had a great weekend showing off his shooting ability and athleticism. The Eastern Washington commit helped his team a lot by spreading the floor out. He also attacked well inside using his athleticism and length to finish above the rim. Skylar also played well inside boxing out and using his length to grab rebounds then push the ball up the floor. He also showed some promise on the defensive end getting up to block some shots. With showing potential on the defensive end I could see with some work Skylar being a potential three and D, slasher at the next level.
Jake Wahlin Jake Wahlin 6'8" | SF Timpview | 2021 State #150 Nation UT – JM Elite
Jake Wahlin Jake Wahlin 6'8" | SF Timpview | 2021 State #150 Nation UT is one of Utah’s top ranked players and he showed why this weekend. The BYU commit showed his ability to stretch the floor better then most forwards. He has a knockdown shot from three point range and that opens up his game for other opportunities. Jake has a great shot from mid range as well, he has a nice turn around fade away he hits over smaller defenders. He also finishes well inside using his length to finish around the rim. BYU has a great player coming there way!
Aidan Kuhl Aidan Kuhl 6'0" | SG Rocky Mountain | 2022 State #245 Nation CO – Pro Skills Denver
Aidan Kuhl Aidan Kuhl 6'0" | SG Rocky Mountain | 2022 State #245 Nation CO is a guy from Colorado I have not gotten to see much before this but he most definitely impressed. Aidan is a smooth lefty who has a great shot from the outside. He is a player with high IQ guard who can score at all three levels. Aidan has shown potential of transitioning his game to point guard, he is unselfish player who is always looking for open teammates. He has a great pump fake, which he goes to often to get defenders off their feet so he can find space for his jumper. Aidan is a player who shows some good upside and I am excited to see more of in the near future.
