Heading into their Junior seasons, I expect some of these top 2022s to start getting D1 offers. Here’s the players I think are most likely to find themselves with a D1 offer soon. The list is based off of checking social media. If they have offers and didn’t report them, there’s no way for me to know.
Jerone Morton Jerone Morton 6'3" | SG George Rogers Clark | 2023 State KY , George Rogers Clark – One of the smoothest scorers in the class, Morton is a tough lefty guard who is among the top Juniors in the state but his recruiting has been up and down. Missing the live periods in 2020 hurt everyone but Jerone also played for several teams over the course of the shortened AAU season so he wasn’t able to get consistent film out to coaches. If he has a good AAU season in 2021, Jerone can definitely earn multiple D1 offers. He’s had coaches coming through the gym in Winchester for the last year. Now he just needs a chance to impress them in 2021.
Tim Hall Tim Hall 6'6" | PF Westminster Catawba | 2023 State SC , Dunbar – One of the best athletes in the state, Hall could honestly be a D1 track athlete or even a big time wide receiver on the football field. As a basketball player, I love Tim’s potential thanks to being tall and athletic but also he has shown a solid skill level with the ability to put the ball on the floor and finish in traffic. If he can show himself to be a reliable three point shooter, offers should roll in for the big wing from Lexington.
Mitchell Rylee Mitchell Rylee 6'8" | C Covington Catholic | 2022 State KY , Covington Catholic – One of the top performers at the recent Bluegrass Fall League, the 6’8 Rylee narrowly missed averaging a double-double while playing up an age group. Going head to head with 2021 players with D1 offers on a weekly basis, Mitchell averaged 16 points and 9.4 rebounds while shooting 64% from the field over 9 games. With his height and improving skill set, Rylee has the look of a player who will have 10-15 D1 offers a year from now.
JiAirius Webb JiAirius Webb 6'7" | PF Owensboro | 2023 State KY , Owensboro Catholic – The favorite words of D1 coaches are terms like “length” and “upside”. Webb has that in spades. At 6’7 and still growing, Ji can play on the wing and attack the rim or take a smaller defender to the block and post them up. He’s a good rim protector and rebounder. If he gets the necessary exposure over the next 9 months, Webb will be another 2022 with several D1 suitors.
