Competitive Edge Fall League (SEPA): Week 5 Standouts
After a weekend off because of the scheduled bye, the 2020 Competitive Edge High School Fall League returned to action this past Saturday. The players finally appear to be finding their A-games and thus the level of play jumped up significantly this past Saturday.
Below is a look at the prospects who played well during Week 5 action in the Competitive Edge High School Fall League.
JP Baron – 6’2” / Junior / Pope John Paul II / Combo Guard: At the end of July, Baron was named as a standout for the Hoop Group Elite Camp. That momentum has carried over to the Comp Edge Fall League where this combo-guard continues to prove he can score at all 3 levels and owns excellent court vision. Baron is real threat to drain threes all the way out to the NBA arc. The future is very bright for one of the elite shooters in southeastern Pennsylvania’s class of 2022.
Bryce Broxton – 6’2” / Senior / Great Valley / Wing: Broxton is a quick athlete who fills the lanes on the break and is also excellent at scoring on 2nd chance opportunities. A long wingspan and excellent timing allow Broxton to excel at blocking shots, especially from the weak side help position. Plays with a ton of passion.
Matt Compas Matt Compas 6'3" | CG Wissahickon | 2021 State PA – 6’0” / Senior / Wissahickon / Guard: When you walk in the gym, you notice that Compas is a ridiculous athlete who plays above the rim. As the game moves along, what really sticks with you is that Compas is an elite on ball defender. On offense, he excels in transition and has enough skills to score off isolation play in the half-court.
Khalil Henson – 5’10” / Senior / Ridley / Point Guard: A crafty, gritty and physical guard, Henson used his slick handles to create scoring opportunities for himself at the rim and in the mid –range. His body language and style of play would remind you of Chris Paul – minus the elite 3-point shooting.
Caleb Jaramillo – 5’11” / Senior / Radnor / Combo Guard: Jaramillo has a bounce and energy to him that coaches love. The athletic combo guard hit 4 of 5 threes and was quick to dice through the passing lanes for steals that led to transition buckets. Displayed solid handles and ability to pass out of the double team.
Nelson Lamizana – 6’5” / Freshman / WC Henderson / Forward: Lamazina is young and his offensive skills (especially his footwork) are raw, but there is a ton of upside here. The freshman is long, athletic and can run the floor. This combination enables him to block shots and clean the glass at a high level. Does a nice job with outlet passes that trigger fast break points. In the summer, Lamizana runs with Downingtown Heat AAU.
