The goal of the event was to get kids back in the gym in a grassroots setting, and provide a live steam to college coaches to be able to evaluate the talent in a structured environment.
The event had 12 teams and was loaded with talent, so doing the standouts in just one article simply isn’t possible. Here’s a look at part three of the 2021 standouts, featuring seven guys to keep an eye on.
Cam Edmonds Cam Edmonds 6'2" | CG Western Branch | 2021 State VA | 6’1” G | Chesapeake Jaguars 2021
Edmonds is a guy who steadily impresses me and has me debating who in the 757 is as criminally underrated as he is. The 6’1” combo guard is a guy is polished and efficient offensively, plays with a good motor on both ends and just flat out makes winning plays. In the two games they played, both wings, Edmonds averaged 21.5 points per game on 60% shooting from the field, and pitched in 6 rebounds and 3 steals per game.
Bobby Johnson Bobby Johnson 6'2" | SG Western Branch | 2021 State VA | 6’2” G | Chesapeake Jaguars 2021
Another guy you have to love in the Jaguars’ backcourt, Johnson brings a blue collar and tough guy mentality to his team and you will get tired of playing against him by the end of the game. He’ll play all over the floor and guard anyone, he rebounds at a high rate for his size, can score it in multiple ways and never stops playing hard! He finished the two games averaging 18.5 points per game on 60% shooting from the field and chipped in 4.5 rebounds as well.
Kyle Evick | 6’5” WF | VA Blaze 2021
Evick had a slow start as he recently returned from a wrist injury however he showed that small schools should be all over this guy moving forward. The 6’5” wing is a little thin but should fill out as he gets to college, and with his size and ability to shoot it from deep he should have tons of ODACs and D3 schools vying for him over the course of this season.
Ethan Conrad | 6’6” PF | CBG Fastbreak 2021
Conrad emerged as a sleeper for small schools as he was very productive throughout the event and brings good size and touch to the table. A stocky 6’6” forward, Conrad has strength to carve out space, touch to finish at multiple levels and plays with a good motor and finds himself in the right place almost all the time. He scored 13 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in their win over CBG East and he has mismatch ability to stretch the floor as well.
James Jasper | 5’9” PG | NOVA Cavs 2021
I’m a guy who loves tough, small guards, and Jasper fits that mold exactly how I like it. He didn’t have the best day shooting from the floor, but he played with terrific poise and pace, and showed that he can get in the lane against pretty much anyone. He’s strong and quick, makes good decisions and I can’t wait to see him when he is shooting the ball well.
Cephas Wilson-Bahun | 6’6” PF | NOVA Cavs 2021
One guy that was turning heads for coaches in attendance was Wilson-Bahun, who made a lot of very impressive athletic plays on both ends of the floor. A very strong and high motor guy, Wilson-Bahun had tons of plays as far as impressive rebounds, dunks and blocks that all brought tons of energy to his team. The St. John Paul the Great big is an excellent student and has great character, and would be an impact guy at many small schools.
Aaron Bremser | 6’3” WG | NOVA Cavs 2021
Bremser opened the day with a big game for the Cavs in their win over Havoc, and would be an excellent addition to a small school program with his size and understanding of the game. The McLean High School product made shots with consistency, and showed that he knows how to work within the system to get good looks and knock them down. He finished with 13 points in their win over Havoc and was 2-for-3 from deep.
