STAB Basketball Represents
There are several promising young prospects to keep an eye on at St. Anne’s Belfield. Class of 2022 wing Justin Taylor Justin Taylor 6'5" | SG IMG Academy | 2022 State #156 Nation FL , the headliner who is highly regarded at a national level, was impressive but there are a few others worth noting as well. 2023 guard John St. Germain John St. Germain 6'2" | PG St. Anne's Belfield | 2023 State VA looks the part and backs it up with his play. 2023 post prospect Carter Lang Carter Lang 6'9" | C St. Anne's Belfield | 2023 State #199 Nation VA is developing nicely and tracking among the top players in his class at the position. 2024 guard Chance Mallory is a skilled sniper with serious moxie.
Guard Matchups Galore
The gym was buzzing because of all the intriguing guard matchups that were manifesting. The day started with a fierce battle between a pair of 2021 guards, Richmond pledge Jason Nelson Jason Nelson 5'8" | PG John Marshall | 2021 State VA and Quadir Pettaway Quadir Pettaway 6'0" | PG Woodside | 2021 State VA of Miller School. Fireworks were going off throughout the day. 2023 Trevor Smith Trevor Smith 5'11" | PG Woodside | 2023 State #267 Nation VA of Woodside and 2021 Jacob Cooper Jacob Cooper 5'9" | PG Green Run | 2021 State VA combined to form a savvy and formidable tandem who wreaked havoc. And the closing act between Maryland-bound Paul Lewis Paul Lewis 6'1" | PG Bishop O'Connell | 2022 State VA vs. highly regarded 2022 standout Jayden Epps Jayden Epps 6'1" | CG Combine Academy | 2022 State #41 Nation NC did not disappoint.
Iona Commits Stand Out
Kenard Richardson Kenard Richardson 6'3" | SG Life Christian | 2021 State VA shined as a result of his pure bucket-getting ability and his toughness. His teammate Ikechi Chantilou Ikechi Chantilou 6'3" | SF Life Christian | 2021 State VA showcased tremendous versatility and athleticism while playing an efficient brand of basketball.
540 Mavs Loaded With Shooters
Cam Cormany Cam Cormany 6'0" | SG Radford | 2021 State VA , a class of 2021 guard from Radford, was probably the most effective perimeter shooter in the gym today. Spotswood’s budding 2022 wing Carmelo Pacheco along with 2022’s Trey Gillenwater Trey Gillenwater 6'2" | PG Eastern Mennonite | 2022 State VA (Eastern Mennonite), Patrick Clevenger (James River), Brooks Hadagorn (Roanoke Catholic ’21), Ayrion Journiette (Northside ’22), and Jamonte Smith Jamonte Smith 6'0" | CG Patrick Henry (Roanoke) | 2021 State VA (Patrick Henry ’21) were all hitting from deep. This team combined to shoot 16 of 27 from behind the arc in one game.
2021 Sleepers Impress
There are a handful of kids who would’ve quite frankly seen their recruitment explode this summer had there been an evaluation period. Jaylani Darden Jaylani Darden 6'3" | CG Norview | 2021 State VA (Norview), Quentin Livingston Quentin Livingston 6'4" | SF Kings Fork | 2021 State VA (King’s Fork), Elijah Kennedy (Green Run), Christian Moore Christian Moore 6'1" | CG Cape Henry | 2021 State VA (Cape Henry), Cam Edmonds Cam Edmonds 6'2" | CG Western Branch | 2021 State VA (Western Branch), Caleb Kenney Caleb Kenney 6'6" | PF Douglas Freeman | 2021 State VA (Douglas Freeman), Xzavier Long Xzavier Long 6'6" | PF VA Academy | 2021 State VA (Virginia Academy), and Dom Stamford (Kempsville) fit in this category.
Long-Term Prospects Show Promise
Kenyon Giles Kenyon Giles 5'11" | PG Oscar Smith | 2022 NV (Oscar Smith ’22) is one of the more dynamic 6’0 and under guard prospects that you’ll find. He hit a game-winner today that was not easy and will continue to be must-see tv in the 757. Davin Cosby Jr Davin Cosby Jr 6'5" | CG Word of God | 2023 #111 Nation NC is a nice 2022 perimeter prospect from Benedictine with a smooth offensive game and a willingness to hit the boards. California native Cole Webster has moved to Virginia for the upcoming high school season, and college coaches might want to get out to Smith Mountain Lake and see this 2022 prospect as soon as possible. He’s a graceful athlete with an intriguing skill base to go along with a growing 6-foot-7 frame. Eli Delaurier (Miller ’24) absolutely bossed the paint area. He made it a point to run the floor hard on every single possession which was outstanding.
