Here are our picks for the best forwards from the Border League in Gilbert, Arizona.
Dreshaun Doyne- Southern California Academy
Dreshaun Doyne is a player who always seems to be in the right spot at the right time. Dreshaun finds good positioning on the floor, whether that’s boxing out for rebounds or cutting towards the basket for easy lay ups. He is a player who does not need the ball in his hands to be effective. Dreshaun rebounds very well, with his good vertical he jumps over players to grab boards. He also uses his good footwork on the defensive end to slow down opposing players and block shots. Dreshaun has one D1 offer as of right now but is a guy college coaches should not sleep on as he is an unselfish guy you can throw into almost any system.
Mike Foster Mike Foster 6'8" | PF Hillcrest Prep | 2021 State #17 Nation AZ – Hillcrest Prep
Mike Foster Mike Foster 6'8" | PF Hillcrest Prep | 2021 State #17 Nation AZ was physically one of the most dominant players at the event. Mike is a player who reminds me of NBA Draft Prospect Obi Toppin, they are both mobile power forwards who control the paint with the ball in their hands. Mike has great size at 6’9, 220 which allows him to move defenders. He also is quick on his feet, which makes him a match up nightmare. Mike finishes well inside often with big time dunks. He can also shoot the ball with a good clip from the outside. There is a big reason Mike Foster Mike Foster 6'8" | PF Hillcrest Prep | 2021 State #17 Nation AZ is a top ranked player in the nation, he is quite a talent!
Elijah Saunders Elijah Saunders 6'8" | PF Sunnyslope | 2022 State AZ – Sunnyslope
Elijah Saunders Elijah Saunders 6'8" | PF Sunnyslope | 2022 State AZ is a player who has a D1 ready frame. Elijah looks like he could play on the O line in football with the build he has, he is super muscular and stands at 6’7. He is someone who uses his frame to his advantage getting good positioning and boxing out down low. Despite not being the quickest player on the floor he has some quick moves he puts on bigger defenders to get to the rim. He also can shoot the ball very well from mid range and three point land with a very good stroke. Elijah is a player with potential to be a great stretch 4 in college is someone to look out for.
AJ Storr AJ Storr 6'6" | SF IMG Academy post grad | 2022 State #119 Nation FL – Bishop Gorman
AJ Storr AJ Storr 6'6" | SF IMG Academy post grad | 2022 State #119 Nation FL is a player who is having his break out year onto the national scene. AJ is a true 6’6 wing who can play at the shooting guard or small forward position. Immediately what stands out when you see him play is his combination of athleticism and skill. AJ has a sweet stroke from outside and was a constant threat from three point land all weekend. He is also great at attacking inside, he can float in the air to finish with a soft touch or throw down some huge dunks. AJ does everything you want out of a D1 wing and coaches are starting to notice. After his great performance this past weekend he got offers from Austin-Pery, Ole Miss, and Virginia Tech, and I am sure his phone is still blowing up!
