IMG Select shows their stuff in 17U Division
Led by a consistent attack of Kordell Charles, Javier Trelles Javier Trelles 5'9" | CG IMG | 2020 State FL , Javani Brow ” last=””]n and Nick Filchner, IMG Select ran away with the Gold Championship against Flight 22 UA Elite Rise. Charles led the way with 21 points, showing he’s at full strength after suffering a season-ending knee injury a year ago. He earned an offer from Illinois following up his MVP performance that saw him produce 15.5 ppg. Trelles knocked down four 3-pointers to the tune of 18 points while Brow ” last=””]n and Filchner finished with 10 apiece each. Trelles made a total of nine 3-pointers on the weekend.
Fayetteville Flash show they can hang
Despite featuring 2023 prospects Treymane Parker Treymane Parker 6'3" | CG OT Elite | 2023 #169 Nation GA and Isaiah Washington Isaiah Washington 6'5" | SG Winston-Salem Christian | 2024 State NC , the Fayetteville Flash along with Cam Oates Cam Oates 5'10" | PG New Life Christian | 2023 State NC , Da’Von McKayhan Da’Von McKayhan 6'4" | SF Hunt | 2022 NC and Tyrone Barbe took home the 16U Gold title with Parker and Washington sharing co-MVP honors after their comeback 75-71 that saw them trail as many by 20 points to a talented Team Trezz team that featured Alkevion Waller (15 pts), Derrick Cox Derrick Cox 6'3" | CG Farmville Central | 2023 State NC Jr. (13 pts), Terry Moore Terry Moore 6'0" | PG Washington | 2022 State NC (9 pts), Jackson Vick Jackson Vick 6'0" | CG Southern Nash | 2022 State NC (9 pts) and Ernest Harris Ernest Harris 6'7" | C Currituck | 2022 State NC (8 pts).
Parker and Washington combined for 33 points and turned things up on the defensive end to seal the victory in the end. Washington ended the game with a steal and a dunk to give them their final 75-71 lead as the buzzer sounded at the end of the game. Oates and McKayhan finished with 15 points apiece as well while Barbe put up 10 points.
CF Elite’s Anthony Jennings is an unstoppable shooter
2022 guard Anthony Jennings was a standout for CF Elite this past weekend despite them finishing the weekend 0-3. He showed it didn’t matter who was in front of him, he could score regardless, posting games of 33 points and 28 points while knocking down a total of 10 3-pointers. His squad fell 66-65 in their opening game despite 33 points on five made 3-pointers. He finished the weekend averaging 23.3 points per game (first in 16U) and with a total of 70 points (first in 16U). He’s a 6-foot-0 guard to keep an eye on in South Carolina.
Brady Rankin Brady Rankin 6'2" | CG Northwood Temple | 2021 State NC is on a tear
A lot has been said already about Flight 22 Elite on the Big Shots stage, but this time, the attention goes to one of their latest additions: 6’2 guard Brady Rankin Brady Rankin 6'2" | CG Northwood Temple | 2021 State NC . Rankin has been playing a lot more confidently on the hardwood since joining the Flight 22 rotation and it showed this past weekend with a 20.0 ppg scoring average on 80 total points (first in 17U) and 21 made free throws (first in 17U) while still making nine 3-pointers (tied for 5th in 17U). He played like a man possessed when given the ball and showed he can win in the clutch with a falling fadeaway game-winner in their semifinal 82-80 victory over Life Christian that saw him pour in 27 points on four made 3-pointers. He’s been a solid addition next to Nygie Stroman Nygie Stroman 6'7" | C Richmond County | 2021 State NC , a familiar face in the rotation that put up 24 points in the victory as well. Stroman is another underrated forward prospect that can play multiple positions on the floor at 6-foot-6.
Jamal Townsend Jamal Townsend 6'0" | CG Northern Nash | 2023 State NC and Jordan Vick Jordan Vick 5'11" | PG Word of God | 2025 State NC are a formidable backcourt
The backcourt duo of Jamal Townsend Jamal Townsend 6'0" | CG Northern Nash | 2023 State NC and Jordan Vick Jordan Vick 5'11" | PG Word of God | 2025 State NC was quite the attack for Team Trezz all weekend long as they won the 15U Gold Championship this past weekend. They won co-MVP honors for their play with Townsend finishing with 56 total points (second in 15U) on 14.0 ppg and Vick finishing with 43 total points on 10.8 ppg. Vick showed off his stroke from deep (5 made 3-pointers) while Townsend held down the lead guard duties this past weekend and it worked to perfection, though NLPB 204 put up a solid fight in the 65-64 title win. It’s worth mentioning, Vick is a member of the 2024 class playing a division up and hasn’t skipped a beat. College coaches, tune in.
