With that in mind, here’s a look at some of the top guards from the big schools in Section 6
Jaelen Treml Jaelen Treml 6'4" | SF Hopkins | 2021 State MN , Hopkins
Treml was a role player for the Royals last season but with greater opportunity comes sky-high expectations. It looks like he’s more than ready to shine after an awesome summer grassroots season. Treml is a big, athletic guard who can influence the game in so many ways. He can score off the dribble, he’s a creative passer, he’s good in transition, competitive on the glass and rock-solid on defense.
Cade Haskins Cade Haskins 6'6" | SF Delasalle | 2021 State MN , DeLaSalle
Haskins led DeLaSalle in scoring last season and is one of the best shooters in the 2021 class. At 6-foot-6, Haskins is a tough guy to match up with because he can bully smaller guards or simply shoot over them, but he’s also so smooth running off screens that it’s tough to keep up with him for a lot of bigger defenders.
Jason Spaeth Jason Spaeth 6'2" | SG Mound-Westonka | 2022 State MN , Mound Westonka
Spaeth was one of the go-to guys for Mound Westonka last year and he’ll be the unquestioned main dog for the White Hawks. He’s a big, tough swingman who bullies smaller defenders on his way to his spots. He’s a solid finisher around the rim, adept in the mid-range and can beat people from the 3-point line if given space.
Keijuan White Keijuan White 6'0" | SG DeLaSalle | 2021 State MN , DeLaSalle
White is an energizing force for the Islanders, setting the tone on both ends of the floor with terrific ball pressure and an attacking mindset with the ball. White is well-schooled defensively and while he’s not the tallest guy, he’s got solid length and excellent quickness. He’s a heady playmaker who can finish in traffic or create easy buckets for his teammates.
Kody Williams Kody Williams 6'0" | PG Wayzata | 2021 State MN , Wayzata
Williams had a decent junior season for the Trojans, averaging better than 12 points per game while engineering the offense. He’s a strong, physical guard who does a great job getting into the paint and finishing through people. He’s a solid mid-range scorer who can create for people off the dribble and his reliability with the ball makes him a potential all-state guy.
Davion Evans Davion Evans 6'0" | PG Robbinsdale Cooper | 2022 State MN , Robbinsdale Cooper
Evans averaged 13 points per game for the Hawks as a sophomore and has the ability to go even higher this winter. He’s terrific with the ball in his hands, utilizing his speed and quickness to blow by primary defenders and either finish in pull up fashion or at the rim.
Eddie Beeninga Eddie Beeninga 6'1" | PG Wayzata | 2021 State MN , Wayzata
Beeninga has been a key piece for Wayzata each of the last two years and he’ll have a big role as a senior, pairing with Williams to create what should be a dynamic two-point guard look. Beeninga can shoot it from the 3-point line with efficiency and does a good job controlling the tempo and facilitating for his teammates.
