A camp for boys in 7th 8th and 9th grade it is great to work with the young players and then watch as they grow on and off the court over the next several years. There was over 75 players that attended at Morey Courts in Mt. Pleasant and I had a chance to see a lot of the players at my drill station and also in games. Here is my two seven standouts from the camp in the class of 2024.
Bryce OMara 6’6 2024 Grand Blanc-Long and skilled, Bryce had a great camp. Worked hard in the post station with me and then played great in games we well. Runs the floor well and finished with both hands while also showing he can step out and shoot it as well as put the ball on the floor a little bit. The rich get richer there in Grand Blanc.
Gerrard McCoy 6’4 2024 UD Jesuit-Was named 2024 MVP of the camp by the staff and he did have a great day. He is long and skilled and can score inside and out. Rebounded well on both ends of the floor and preformed well at my drill station and in games. He has a great motor and is coachable.
Tyler Ode 6’4 2024 Saginaw Heritage-Has a great motor, rebounded well on both ends of the floor while also scoring inside and out. Battles well in the paint and showed a great touch around the basket. Was a beast during games and in my post station. Very hard working young man.
Christian Dunn 6’5 2024 East Lansing-Ethan’s little brother is a interesting prospect in his own right. I am sure he is not done growing and he has some good skills to go with it. Nice up and under moves and finishes well with either hand in the paint. Can step out and shoot it relative well also.
Jake Stephens 5’11 2024 Chelsea-Long combo guard who played extremely hard in both drills and in the games. Has a nice pull up jumper and the ability to get all the way to the basket. Has a nice strong build for a Freshmen in high school. Defended well and battled all day long as well.
Keyonta Menifield 5’8 2024 Flint Beecher-Yes, there is another one. He is a lot like his older brother, quick point guard with great handles, who looks to push the tempo, but he can also score himself both in the lane and from the outside. Once he grows like his brother did, he will be even tougher to stop. Beecher will continue to have great point guards for at least four more years.
Jacob Tuttle 6’0 2024 Notre Dame Prep-Long combo guard who does a good job of attacking the basket. Is a good passer and can shoot it from the outside as well. Smart, and hard-working player with a great motor. Played well at my drill station and in games.
