Each player went to six different stations before being put on a team and playing three games each. I was lucky enough to work this event, though because of that I did not get a chance to see everyone but I did get to work with a lot of very talented players. I also did not want to write about guys that I wrote about after last weeks Prep Hoops Top 250 expo, or someone like RJ Taylor RJ Taylor 6'0" | PG Grand Blanc | 2023 State #262 Nation MI , who is a stud and needs no recognition from me. Even though I am a huge fan of his and love his game. With that in mind here are my seven super underclassman standouts from the camp that I saw in my drill station or in games I was coaching.
Timmie Jordan 6’8 2023 Saginaw Arthur Hill-Timmie had an excellent camp. Having him first in the post group to start our day, he showed a nice touch around the rim and strong drop step dunks and worked hard in our one on one live defense time. During games he was an absolute beast on the boards on both ends of the floor, scored well in the paint, while also showing he can handle the ball and shoot it as well. I expect a lot of great things for him over the next three years at Arthur Hill.
Christian Humphrey-Rembert 6’7 2024 East Kentwood-I sadly didn’t get to see Christian play any of his games, and I know he would have liked to play against some of the older players and see where he is at, but there will be lots of time for that. Having him at my station for 15-20 minuets was more than enough to see the potential he has, and truth be told I saw him this summer in Ft Wayne in AAU as well. But being in that top wing group, that was loaded with talent, was very beneficial for him and it was great for us to see how he played with those older players who already have the offers, or in Pierre’s case, committed. He is so long and athletic, gets to the basket well and finishes at the rim strong. He moves very well and is skilled enough to put the ball on the floor and take you off the dribble or shoot from the outside. Really looking forward to watching him play for four more years.
Terrell Sykes 6’4 2023 Madison Heights Lamphere-Terrell told me to watch him while he played his game, so I did. Well Terrell, I liked a lot of what I saw. He is a long and athletic combo wing who can guard players inside and out, while also getting to the basket and scoring himself. He rebounded well and was very talkative during games both on the court and on the bench. It was clear he is a competitor and wants to get better each time he steps out on the floor.
Jaden Montague Jaden Montague 6'3" | PG Cadillac | 2023 State MI 6’1 2023 Cadillac-Jaden was in one of the top wing groups and he was a young man that I had to ask to make sure he was a Sophomore because of how hard and smart he played. He has long arms, and he is skilled. He handles the ball well and makes great decisions with it, while also being able to shoot it from the outside or get in the lane himself and finish. Worth a trip up to Big North country the next few years to get a better look.
Caron Williams Caron Williams 6'3" | SG L'Anse Creuse | 2023 State MI 6’3 2023 L’anse Creuse-Caron is a lot like the next player I am going to mention, and they do play together in AAU a decent amount as they are both strong athletic wing players. Caron had a great camp I felt both in games and in drills, getting to the basket and scoring and playing good defense in games. He can guard multiple positions due to his strength and athletic ability.
Owen Colpart 6’2 2023 Macomb Dakota-Plays ahead of his years and looks the part as well. He is long and strong, and he does a great job of getting to the basket on offense and locking down on defense. He also showed the ability to make the outside shot, plus he is a hard worker.
Elyjah Hendricks 5’11 2024 Grand Ledge-Showed a lot of poise as a freshman in games and did great in my drill group as well. He has long arms, and he attacks the basket well. Handles the rock and makes good decisions with the ball. I expect to see much more from him over the next four years.
