I was lucky enough to work this camp and while that does give me a great chance to work with so many talented players, which I really enjoy, I am not able to see every player that attended sadly. With that in mind, here our my seven Seniors standouts that I saw during the day.
Pierre Brooks Pierre Brooks 6'5" | SG Detroit Douglass | 2021 State #76 Nation MI 6’6 Detroit Douglass-It has been great to watch Pierre over the years as he has grown up both on and off the floor. Now he is a senior and committed to Michigan State and one of the best players in the mid-west. The best thing I can say about how he played was that him being there raised the level of play in their entire group, which was loaded with talent, and every game he played. It will be fun to watch him play on TV real soon.
Javantae Randle Javantae Randle 6'9" | PF Detroit Frederick Douglass | 2021 State MI 6’10 Detroit Douglass-Pierre’s high school teammate had an outstanding camp himself. He is super long and athletic, with a quick first step on his post moves and the ability to finish well with either hand. He rebounds and block shots and run the floor well. I expect more offers to come his way very soon.
Donovan Boyd 6’4 Grand Rapids Christian-The strong and athletic combo wing did a good job in my station, but it was during games where he really showed out. He could not be stopped on both ends of the floor playing great defense on one end and getting to the basket and scoring at will on the other. Him and his AAU and old high school teammate, Jared Lary, 6’5 Cleveland Lutheran East, had some fun battles during games.
Jayland Randall Jayland Randall 6'4" | SF Chandler Park | 2021 State MI 6’4 Chandler Park-Jayland had a great day at camp. He is long and skilled and showed the ability to handle the ball and score inside and out. Was good in our 2on2 pick n roll drill and then in games really got to show the full compliment of his ability.
Cole Pardon Cole Pardon 6'5" | SF Brandon | 2021 State MI 6’5 Brandon- Cole had to leave a little early to get to some fall league games but while he was at camp he shot the ball well while also getting to the basket and performed well while being in one of the two top wing groups. At 6’5 he has great length to help get his shot off at any time, and he can do much more than just shot the three.
Hunter Soper Hunter Soper 6'5" | SG Croswell-Lexington | 2021 State MI 6’5 Croswell-Lexington-A great block shot here, a exciting tip dunk there, may catch some people’s eyes, and they look good on camera, and I will admit it is entertaining for me to watch too, but what I really like about Hunter’s game is how constant it is. He has the size, athletic ability, and skill to be a very good college wing wherever he happens to choose to play.
Brent Wiles 6’4 New Haven-Brent is a pretty good athlete and can use that to rebound on both ends of the floor and defend, while also having the ability to put the ball on the floor and get to the basket. He hit three 3-pointers in a row in one game as well to show he can score inside and out without a problem.
