The Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo was held Sunday October 11 at Inspire Courts in Gilbert. Here is a look at the top drivers in the event (who are not mentioned otherwise) that showed the ability to put it down and get to the hoop.
5’11 CG Dylyn Cooks of Arbor View HS (NV) 2023
Cooks is a very active combo guard who is an excellent driver with a solid first step. He has a mind set to put it down and go and he can really go.
He has the ability to create opportunities for himself. He just needs to become more savvy in creating for his teammates.
6’2 PG Lavon Domino Lavon Domino 6'0" | CG Cesar Chavez | 2023 CA-S of Apollo HS (AZ) 2023
Domino is a strong and athletic point guard who is a big-time driver. He attacks aggressively and can finish with authority.
His shot is a question mark at this point. He must prove himself in this regard- very critical for him. He does have real solid ball handling and passing skills.
6’1 CG Carter John Carter John 6'1" | CG Hillcrest Prep Post Grad | 2022 State AZ of Bradshaw Mountain HS (AZ) 2021
John is an extremely athletic combo guard who falls into the “hard to guard” category. He is a blur who can blow by the defender almost at will. And he finishes with the best of them.
Defenders will need a maximum effort to contain this jet. And the help better be in position and ready to come to the rescue.
6’2 PG Ian Jones of Sonora HS (CA) 2021
Jones is a combo guard with a capable mid-range pull up and an impressive ability to go all the way on the drive. He has a real nice first step and is quite effective at breaking down defenders one on one.
He is a player the defense will need to give a gap to in order to have a chance to contain him (and then hope he doesn’t nail the perimeter shot).
6’0 CG Anthony Pittman of Bishop Gorman HS (NV) 2022
Pittman is an athletic combo guard who displayed a nice array of skills at this event. Chief among them was his ability to drive it. He has a nice burst and can get by defenders on a consistent basis.
He also can finish pretty well in transition and has a solid mid-range pull up.
5’10 PG Jacques Williams of Arbor View HS (NV) 2022
Williams is a fairly athletic one man who goes very hard on the drive. He can finish with authority and is not afraid to absorb contact.
He also has an effective transition floater that he can score with in traffic at the end of the break.
On the other end he is a capable on-ball defender.
6’4 SG Anderson Wilson Anderson Wilson 6'4" | SF Phh Prep | 2022 State AZ of South Mountain HS (AZ) 2022
Wilson is a two guard who seems to have a knack for going by the defender and getting to the hoop and finishing. He does this on the break and in the half court.
His task at this point is to prove himself as a perimeter shooter. This will force the defense to come out and guard him and then he can go by them.
