The Prep Hoops Arizona Top 250 Expo was held Sunday, October 11th at Inspire Courts in Gilbert with 120 participants. Here is a report on the players who stood out in the transition game (who are not mentioned otherwise).
5’10 PG Greg Anderson Greg Anderson 6'0" | CG Fairfax | 2022 State AZ of Betty Fairfax HS (AZ) – 2022
Anderson is a real athletic one-man who sees the floor very well in transition and makes a lot of plays for himself and his teammates. He can run all day long and never stops running.
He passes it well and gets the ball to the right player in the right situation at the right time. He can shoot it okay with 3 range as well.
6’0 CG Kota Benson Kota Benson 6'0" | PG Mesa | 2023 State AZ of Baboquivari HS (AZ) – 2023
Benson is a good ball handler and passer who is a very solid playmaker in transition.
He makes plays for himself and his teammates pretty consistently.
He also has a very good-looking shot with 3 range. He will bury you if you don’t get out and guard him.
6’3 CG Shawn Gilbert of Sandia HS (NM) – 2021
Gilbert is a fairly athletic guard with skills who sees the floor well and is effective in transition getting things done. Up tempo is definitely his game.
He can shoot it fairly well with long range and is a capable rebounder from the guard position.
6’3 CG Amari Hunter of Desert Edge HS (AZ) – 2021
Hunter is an athletic combo guard who really excels in the transition game. He’s a good ball handler and passer who pushes the break consistently and makes a lot of plays.
In the half court he moves well without the ball and does a nice job breaking down defenders on the drive. He needs to prove himself as a perimeter shooter.
5’8 PG Roman King of Mountain Pointe HS (AZ) – 2022
King is a point guard who pushes the envelope on the fast break and is really good at finishing at the end of the break. He’s a confident handler who will get out and go on every possession.
In the half court he can get to the basket on the drive and he has a solid floater.
He somehow finds a way to come up with rebounds as an under-sized guard.
6’2 CG Kem Rice of Cathedral HS (CA) – 2021
Rice is a skilled combo guard who does a nice job finished in transition. He will attack and go all the way unless you stop him.
He is also a good ball handler and passer who shoots it fairly well with 3 range. He’s an effective driver/penetrator with a nice first step.
