It also featured several fast players with the ability to get off the ground. In this article, PH takes a look at the top R&J athletes from the event.
Micah Wilkerson Micah Wilkerson 6'5" | SF Bella Vista Prep | 2022 State AZ 6’5 SF Mountain Ridge 2022 (#58PHA 2022) – Wilkerson received several ohhs and ahhs for his athleticism. He showed big-time springs when out in transition, receiving and finishing several plays with thunderous dunks.
Carter John Carter John 6'1" | CG Hillcrest Prep Post Grad | 2022 State AZ 6’1 SG Bradshaw Mountain 2021 (featured image) – John may have been the most explosive player at the camp. Had a sick one hand lean in dunk that had the court buzzing. He doesn’t have the prototypical body type of a high flyer, however, he’s fast when attacking the rim and displayed a good explosive first jump.
Anderson Wilson Anderson Wilson 6'4" | SF Phh Prep | 2022 State AZ 6’4 SF South Mountain 2022 (#31PHN 2022) – Wilson is on this list for his potential. He missed his share of dunks, however, you can see the power and explosion. He’s a lean athlete with long arms and good fluidity in his running style. Wilson was fast in transition and did show the ability to play above the rim.
Chike Ezeonu 6’3 SG Seattle Prep 2021 (#51PHW 2021) – Ezeonu is a good looking specimen. Usually, we talk about R&J athletes on the offensive end, however, his athleticism really showed up on the defensive side. Ezeonu has great lateral quickness and his upper body frame allowed him to shield off ballhandlers. Even Dylyn Cooks, who was one of the quickest PG’s at the camp and got by everybody had a difficult time getting by Ezeonu.
Masaiah Binford Masaiah Binford 6'4" | SF Ascending Life Prep | 2023 State AZ 6’2 PF South Mountain 2023 (#44PHA 2023) – Binford is listed at 6’5 on some sheets. He’s not that but I can see how it can be confusing. He has extremely long arms and a lean frame. Combine that with his leaping ability and he looks like a guy that plays above the rim. Binford has a quick first and second jump and can grab rebounds in traffic and over taller players.
Max von Arx 6’4 PF Us Grant 2022 – He has some springs. MVA is a fluid rim runner that showed a quick 1st and second jump. Although undersized, he did a terrific job using his quick leaping ability to challenge and block shots.
