Josiah Sanders Josiah Sanders 6'7" | PF Bella Vista Prep | 2022 State AZ 6’7 PF South Mountain 2021 (PHA 2021) – The lefty has a huge frame and he used it well around the basket. Sanders was at his best from 15 in but showed nice form on his 3 ball when he did step outside.
Carter John Carter John 6'1" | CG Hillcrest Prep Post Grad | 2022 State AZ 6’1 SG Bradshaw Mountain 2021 – Besides from being one of the top R&J athletes at the event, John also showed a pretty solid handle. He has a nice behind the back COD and was good when slashing to the rack. At 6’1 he’s more pure 2, however if he can transition into a combo there may be a place for him somewhere.
Anderson Wilson Anderson Wilson 6'4" | SF Phh Prep | 2022 State AZ 6’4 SF South Mountain 2022 (#31PHA 2022) – Wilson was kind of the Swiss army Knife of the Expo. Did everything needed for his team, except finish his dunks. The lefty is long and has a good frame. Anderson showed the ability to defend, slash and create for his teammates on Sunday.
Roman King 5’8 PG Mountain Pointe 2022 – King’s wiggle was crazy. Played the entire day with a bounce in his step matched by few players. He kept the ball on a string and stayed in constant attack mode. Although diminutive, King did a great job of keeping opponents off balance with his hesitation and change of pace ability.
Jamison Kay Jamison Kay 6'5" | SF Gila Ridge | 2021 State AZ 6’5 SF Gila Ridge 2021 (#39PHA 2021) – Kay certainly passes the eye test. A long rangy wing, he showed off his shooting ability from both the 3 point line and when shooting from mid range. He also did a good job of rebounding his position, and showed the skill to initiate the break when he grabbed a defensive rebound.
Daryian Matthews Daryian Matthews 6'5" | PF Dysart | 2021 State AZ 6’5 PF Dysart 2021 (#103PHA 2021) (featured image) – Players like Matthews make my life easier. When he’s in the gym, I know I already have one player for my top rebounders article. It is truly a pleasure watching this man pursue the pumpkin. Matthews used his frame to carve out space, and then vacuums in every missed shot. He’s not the quickest, he doesn’t jump the highest, he just relentlessly competes for every basketball that bounces off the rim.
Lareon Ginnis Lareon Ginnis 5'9" | PG AZ Compass Prep | 2022 State AZ 5’9 PG South Mountain 2022 (#26PHA 2022) – Ginnis showed quickness and a terrific first step. His blow by ability allowed him to get to the basket at will and he did a terrific job finishing. On defense, he was a ballhawk using active hands and good lateral quickness to frustrate ballhandlers.
