Hosted by recruiting legend Gerry Freitas, the event featured teams from Washington, California, Arizona and Idaho. It also featured several big time athletes. In this article PH takes a look at the top Run and Jump athletes from the event.
Kobe Nunes 6’1 SG Lions 2022 (#47PHNC) – I’m always looking for players that can translate their athleticism into the game. Nunes fits that description to a T. He wowed me with a two footed jam in the half court off one step. That play alone highlighted his fast twitch muscles and explosiveness.
Alpha Chibambe Alpha Chibambe 6'4" | SF JSerra | 2022 CA-S 6’5 SF Prime Elite 2022 (#37PHSC 2022) (featured image) – Chibambe walks into any gym and people will know right away who the R&J athlete is. Built like a middleweight boxer, Chibambe displayed a terrific first and second jump throughout the weekend. His lift makes him one of the top rim protecting non bigs on the west coast. His two foot explosiveness not only gets him high off the ground but allows him to float in the air, evident by this TJ.
Wayne McKinney Wayne McKinney 5'10" | PG Coronado | 2021 State CA-S 6’0 PG Coastal Elite Slayers 2021 (#22PHSC 2021) – McKinney has broad shoulders and a powerful frame. He’s one of the fastest players with the ball in his hands. He gets great lift off both 1 and two feet, allowing him to finish over bigger players and through contact. The USD commit is a highlight reel when in transition.
Alex Crawford Alex Crawford 6'6" | SF Eastlake | 2021 State CA-S 6’6 SF Coastal Elite Slayers 2021 (#83PHSC 2021) – Crawford has an aerodynamic build. A long lean wing that gets off the ground in a hurry off 1 foot, Crawford is a fluid runner who was one of the faster 6’5 and over players at the camp.
Jaylen Alexander 6’6 SF Idaho Premiere 2021 – Alexander just pops. He’s a long lean athlete with the ability to get off the ground off either foot. He had several impressive dunks throughout the weekend, and showed good explosion when tracking the ball off the rim.
Ben Egbo 6’3 SF Legion of Hoops 2023 (#19PHA 2023) – Egbo is a young high flyer that’s only going to get better. The sophomore already has a developed frame, and his 1 foot bounce was on display on this fearless rim attack.
