While our Texas-based writers were able to catch the action live, I had to settle for watching camp and all-star games via the Baller TV livestream replays and below are my second set of standouts from the Cream of the Crop Top 60 Game.
Jayden Forrest, 2023, Marion (AR): Forrest stood out because of the way he approached the game. The 6-foot-1 point guard put the defense on its heels in transition with his speed and relentlessness when attacking the paint on the break. Forrest had a ton of strong finishes through contact and was one of few players to take a charge in the all-star games.
Omari Burnett, 2023, Marcus (TX): It was tough for the defense to keep Burnett out of the painted area. The strong and physical 6-foot guard used his powerful first step and ability to stay on balance through contact to get two feet in the key and absorb and finish through contact. Burnett applied great on-ball pressure to his defensive assignments throughout the event.
Jacob Crow, 2023, Tulsa NOAH Homeschool (OK): Crow proved to be one of the better intangible players on the floor in the top 60 game. The 6-foot-5 wing has a little bit of everything in his game, doesn’t play outside his comfort zone and mikes the right play more often than not. I liked’ Crow’s ability to rebound the defensive glass and start the break with a quick outlet or lead it himself with the bounce.
Isaiah Mannin Isaiah Mannin PF Mansfield Legac | 2023 TX , 2023, Mansfield-Legacy (TX): Manning looks to be a guy trending as a versatile wing or stretch four type of prospect due to his skill-set. At 6-feet-7 with a long and wiry frame, Manning can spread the floor to the three-point line with a fluid set shot when trailing the play in transition or popping out on the perimeter from the mid-post. Manning is an active rim-runner with good hands and athleticism.
