While our Texas-based writers were able to catch the action live, I had to settle for watching camp and all-star games via the Baller TV livestream replays and below are my third set of standouts from the Cream of the Crop Top 60 Game.
Corey Chest Corey Chest 6'7" | SF McMain | 2023 #94 Nation MO , 2023, McMain (LA): The wiry 6-foot-7 wing is super active on both ends of the floor, using his length to contest shots around the rim and rebound his area and his long strides to beat his defender down the floor in transition. Chest is an instinctual offensive rebounder with soft hands and great timing on tip-ins on missed shots.
Micah Robinson, 2024, Frisco (TX): Robinson was one of the more intriguing freshmen in this camp due to his quick-twitch athleticism to go along with his mobility, high motor and length at 6-feet-5. Robinson ran the floor with purpose in transition and showed some good early defensive instincts both on the ball and as a shot blocker and rim protector.
Matthew Stokes Matthew Stokes 6'8" | PF Bartlett | 2023 State TN , 2023, Houston (TN): The 6-foot-8 center was one of the better true big men in the camp and made his biggest impact with his defensive presence in the paint. Stokes has great timing when blocking, changing and contesting shots around the basket, then corralling the missed shot and throwing a quick outlet pass to a guard to start the break.
Malachi Evans Malachi Evans 6'9" | C Hamilton Christian | 2023 State LA , 2023, Hamilton Christian (TN): Evans is another big man who popped off the screen due to his defensive presence in the paint and his IQ on that end of the floor. The 6-foot-9 center has a handful of contests where he stayed perfectly vertical and controlled his body well enough not to foul a driver. Evans is an efficient positional rebounder who works hard to block out and clear the defensive glass.
