VARSITY Scrimmage Evaluations: Week 4
Elijah Hutchinson – Wheeling – 2022
Plays above the rim with great length and energy. Adept slasher that can create his own shot and is a threat from three. Defender that can switch onto multiple positions, create havoc on the ball, and get into passing lanes
Josiah McDonald – Vernon Hills- 2021
Long quick slasher who made plays attacking of the catch and finishing at the rim! Runs the floor in transition and finishes strong at the rim. Very athletic had some impressive one handed and two-handed dunks, one right down the middle of the lane in traffic. Continues to improve over the last month.
Julian Triggo – Maine South – 2022
Stretch 4 with good length, IQ, and a clean release from beyond the arc. Can score with and without the ball. Good vision and passer from post and perimeter. Strong area rebounder on both ends.
Donovan Amos – Palatine Fremd – 2021
Re-energized this Sunday really played with a high Motor, had a strong block and powerful drives. Had a few dunks on the day some out of half court sets others in transition. Steady option for his team on offense throughout the day.
Michael Labno – Palatine Fremd – 2021
Really was a force on the boards, his rebounded effected the game creating extra possessions for his squad. When getting rebounds he was great at going back up strong or kicking out to open shooters. Standing at 6’5” with a solid TE football frame will be able to defend multiple positions as well.
Marcin Warzecha – Palatine Fremd – 2021
6’5” forward pick and pop stretch 4, possess good shot selection from the perimeter can stand to take a few more threes since he doesn’t take many and has ability to sink them. Better when used as on ball screener as he is extremely effective getting guys open and advantages with his positioning. Disciplined and effective on the defensive end of the floor as well.
Sean Page- Northridge Prep- 2021
6’6” athletic big, plays hard no matter the situation strong with finishing with either his left or right hand even with contact. Can play the four as he has the ability to put the ball on the floor and get downhill and shoot the spot up three’s as well. Can help schools out as a 3-5 depending on the system and school at the next level.
Zach Rosen- Rochelle Zell – 2022
Crafty guard very good at finding guy in traffic and dumping down to the dunker when guys step up on him. Runs his team’s offense well and is a game managing PG, adapt at finishing around the rim and making game changing plays on the defensive end.
Frank Taylor-Glenbrook South-2021
Poured in threes, leading his team in a 15-point comeback effort with aid from Sean Paige Sean Paige 6'8" | C Anderson | 2022 State IN . Spot up threes is one of the things this 6’4” G/F can do you for you, but his strength and athleticism makes it a problem for matchups when he makes up his mind to get to the rim.
SOPHOMORE Scrimmage evaluations: Week 4
Rocco Falls – Prospect – 2023
High motor floor general with tight handle and very shifty. Strong vision and passer that excels in the open floor by pushing tempo. At his best getting into the paint and creating for others or finishing in a multitude of ways around the rim.
Ryder Spector – Deerfield – 2023
Wide bodied area rebounder that can stretch the floor from three. Also crafty in the post and finishes with both hands equally well. Willing passer that sees floor well from the block.
Joshua Hutchison – Wheeling-2023
Sophomore playing up in the varsity division held his own made plays drawing fouls at the rim and hitting open jump shots. Very smooth player scores with ease. Can up his motor especially having good height for a guard at 6’3” can really become a player in the next year or so.
Noah Portalatin – Lake Forest – 2023
Natural feel when playing the game, in the right spots on defense plugging in which allows him to get deflections and steals to get his team out in transition. Really excelled at penetrating and creating multiple looks for his team throughout the day.
Sheppard Graf -Lake Forest – 2023
Solid athlete rebounded the ball well and was very aggressive flashing to the middle of the floor and creating a paint presence for his team. Cleaned up on the boards as well.
Jamie Davis – Lake Forest – 2023
Really good 15ft and in, best when getting downhill and keeping it simple. Plays at his own pace doesn’t get sped up. Made winning plays for his team throughout the day.
Jacob Cohn Deerfield 2023
Was aggressive looking for his shots throughout the day. Got to his spots when he wanted off the bounce. Moves feet well on defensive end and has solid size for his age. One of the better guards in the JV division.
