Jaeton Hackley Jaeton Hackley 5'11" | PG Douglas County | 2022 State CO — Douglas County
I made it a point to watch someone else this week, but the 2022 that stands out each week is Hackley. Hackley is a true point guard, and he was able to get back to dominating as a true point guard. The passes were back and creatively getting the ball to open teammates. He made plays all day as he got in for drive and kicks and is an elite ball-handler. Players have a difficult time staying in front of him, and he decides to take over and score the ball. He plays with an edge, and when one of the top players in the state got into a zone, he was who stepped up defensively and took it on. It was a fun back and forth affair where they traded blows, and that competitiveness separates him.
Brock Mishak Brock Mishak 6'3" | CG Fossil Ridge | 2022 State CO — Fossil Ridge
Mishak played really well alongside Hackley this week as the two fed off of each other. Mishak has a high IQ and fills in the gaps. He moved without the ball and found gaps in the defense, he is a confident shooter that has a good feel for the game, and it was interesting to see him with the ball in his hands. He reads the game and also had some flashy no-look passes where he knew where his teammates would be. He also stepped up defensively and showed that he has a bit of an edge to his game as he got chippy on that end of the floor with no easy baskets and physicality. Mishak is showing that he is not only a scorer that can let it fly but also has a balanced game, and I want to see that continue. Good day for him.
Jackson Brennan Jackson Brennan 6'3" | CG ThunderRidge | 2022 State CO — ThunderRidge
Brennan is a utility guy. He does a bit of everything and is a perfect complement to whatever team he is on. He gets up and down the floor and is always moving, which opens up the defense. He crashes the boards and had plenty of clean-up opportunities. He rebounds as well as any guard in the class and also is an elite defender that is active. On offense, he knocked down a few 3-pointers and went on runs by himself.
Joey Bilello Joey Bilello 6'8" | SF Thunderridge | 2022 State CO — ThunderRidge
Bilello is another perfect utility guy that can also take over when he is aggressive. This week his 3-ball was falling, and he was finding holes in the defense and making them pay. Bilello does a bit of the 2012-13 Mike Miller thing. Where it looks as if he is so exhausted that he cannot move much, and somehow that’s when he is at his best. When everyone runs out of juice, Bilello gets going. He was making great outlet passes, rebounding in bunches, and finding the open man as he reads the defense. He remains one of the few players that sets back screens and is scoring inside. That inside-out attack will be crucial this year.
