Abhil Woldeyohannes Abhil Woldeyohannes 6'3" | SF Colorado Academy | 2022 State CO – Colorado Academy
Abhil was the second-leading scorer for the Mustangs last season as he put up 9.3 points and also showed that he could rebound and set up others as well. While he seemed to have a solid sophomore season, it appeared that the more that he played, he progressed. He took that season and went into a summer where he was an important piece of the Pro Skills 16U team. Abhil was the team’s do-it-all wing that put the ball on the floor, pushed the pace, shot the ball well, and also was one of the few players that also got himself going inside as well. Abhil is a 3&D prospect that is always moving, does not turn down open shots, and showed off the skill and size to stand out this summer. He is a player that, if he was willing to consistently workout and put in the work, could turn a few heads this upcoming year on a team that I think makes a jump.
Chase D’agostino Chase D’agostino 6'4" | CG Arapahoe | 2022 State CO – Arapahoe
Chase got his feet wet on varsity this upcoming season and got some varsity minutes. He now steps into a junior season where he will be one of the players that the team leans on and should make a jump. This summer, we did not see him much, but when we did, he was a player that scored with ease, got his shot off against opposing teams, and went on scoring runs himself. Chase is a 6’4 wing that is confident with the ball in his hands and is a fill in the gap type player. He rebounds hard, controls the pace, and also defends multiple positions.
Duke Benson Duke Benson 6'3" | SF Kent Denver | 2022 State CO – Kent Denver
Benson was one of Kent Denver’s best players last season as he averaged 12.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists a game. He does everything that is asked of him, has a winning attitude, and goes all out on every possession. He took that play into the summer and was arguably Pro Skills’ most important player on the 16U team as he brings so many tools to the table. His skill is not tailored to scoring, rebounding, or defending but a combination of them all. Benson is a player that certainly grew on me this summer and is a prospect that you build around as he gives all-out effort. I saw it all from him in a couple of month’s span. I saw him defend and get under the skin of a former Division I standout in a private scrimmage, be a glass-cleaner against one of the top AAU teams in the state as well as have a breakout day where I deemed him” Duke Buckets.” I am excited to see how he takes what he gained this summer and put it in a full game setting.
Asher Nofziger Asher Nofziger 6'7" | PF Cherry Creek | 2022 State CO – Cherry Creek
Nofziger is a player that was on JV last year with Creek having such as deep squad, but with what we saw from him with the Colorado Miners this summer, he will certainly be able to make his mark on varsity this season. Nofziger has solid size and is a player that the Miners made sure to run through at times as he was able to score from all three levels, brought scrappiness on defense, and also correctly filled in the gaps on the break. Nofziger is a hard-working wing that wired differently and has contagious effort. He plays the right way, can provide a spark, and is always communication on the floor and is a possible X-factor that we are excited to see how he progresses. He enters our ranking for the first time.
Connor Yslas Connor Yslas 6'6" | PF Cherokee Trail | 2022 State CO – Cherokee Trail
Cherokee Trail is ready to start fresh and forget last season as they get back to being a team that opposing teams have to worry about. While last season did not have many bright spots, one player that did grow and get experience was Yslas. The Cougars have a strong 2022 class, and Yslas is one that has all of the intangibles; they just have to come together. Yslas has great size at 6’5 and has the ability to be out on the wing as well as on the block. This summer, we saw him in a few showcase games, and one thing that stood out was his positioning on offense as he always seems to be in the right place as well as the defense. Yslas had one of the better blocks of the summer as he did not give up on a play. That is a player that you build around that leads by example, and he will have to continue to put in the work to improve if he plans on being a focal point for the Cougars this upcoming season. He steps into the rankings for the first time and is in a great situation where he should be a utilized player.
