Sean Evans Sean Evans 6'3" | CG Legend | 2021 State CO — Legend
Evans shot the ball extremely well this weekend, and that helped his team pick up some wins. He is in great shape and does not wear down as the day progresses. He is a steady player with unlimited range but also does all of the little things as well. He is running rebounds down, setting screens, and moving away and also makes the right play. He had some tough finishes over a few big man and was his team’s primary ball-handler, which showcases his versatility. Evans has shown that he belongs to be with the top players.
Greg Gerhardt Greg Gerhardt 6'9" | C Monarch | 2021 State CO — Monarch
Gerhardt is different than essentially every big because of his ability to space the floor. Gerhardt is shooting the ball from deep as a big and has to be defended from the 3-point line as he is capable of consistently knocking shots down and moving the opposing team’s big man away from the rim. He also moves without the ball. The next step in his development will be establishing himself on the block and getting a few go-to moves as he has the ability to shoot it over smaller defenders and soft touch around the rim. Once he understands his size and fully embraces, it is when he will be at his best.
Boston Stanton Boston Stanton 6'4" | SG Denver East | 2021 State CO — Denver East
Stanton has us ready to reconsider some things with the way that he is playing right now. Stanton has come back from his injury and playing his best ball yet. Although Stanton can score essentially whenever he wants, he makes the right play instead. He is a willing passer that takes over when needed and when his team needs a basket, he delivers. He has showcased his competitive edge as he is going right at players, is shooting the ball extremely well, and has been lights out from the field. Stanton has great size and elite skill and is looking like the most complete player in the state right now.
Michael Wolf Michael Wolf 6'0" | PG Regis Jesuit | 2021 State CO — Regis
Wolf has appeared to find his rhythm from deep again, and when he is shooting the ball confidently, he is difficult to maintain. Consistency has been an issue for him. This week, he started slow and then found himself in a zone, and that opened up the rest of his game. He was getting to his spots, and when players overplayed him, he started getting to the rim and finishing inside, which is a bit new. Waiting for it to all come together as I feel like he has all of the pieces; they just have to align.
Jameel Wright Jameel Wright 5'10" | PG Overland | 2021 State CO — Overland
Wright is another player that got back into his own. This week, the passes were back, and that is when he is at his best. Wright is a gifted player with elite court awareness and the ability to break a defense down and make them choose how to slow them down. He was hitting teammates in stride, which made other players have to take away the passing lanes. That’s when he decided to hurt him with his scoring. I personally feel as if Wright is the craftiest finisher in the state and is always under control. He is an ambidextrous creator at the basket that scores when he wants and uses his size and is a player I am most eager to watch this upcoming season.
