2021 Rankings
Here is a look at some of the newcomers to keep an eye on from the 2021 class here in the Sunshine State.
Sasha Letino Sasha Letino 6'9" | PF The Rock | 2021 State FL Ι 6-9 Ι The Rock
Letino is someone who instantly provides a reliable down low and floor stretching option at The Rock. Previously at North Carolina Moravian Prep, the 6-9 stretch four can slash, shoot and drive on his own. He has good pace to his game and handles the ball well. He’s spent a lot of time playing over in Europe and his Euro-style game will be a big addition to this SIAA squad. Look for Letino to make an instant impact.
Olafur Gunnlaugsson Olafur Gunnlaugsson 6'7" | SF Potter's House Christian | 2021 State FL Ι 6-7 Ι Potter’s House Christian
Blooming at the right time, Gunnlaugsson provides a reliable outside shooting touch and a high arc jumper on a fast-paced squad. Potter’s House Christian has a chance to really flash in the SIAA and the pieces are in place. Gunnlaugsson is someone who scores in bunches and isn’t afraid to play lockdown defense or push the cause with his unselfish game.
Jayce Harrison Jayce Harrison 5'11" | PG The Rock | 2021 State FL Ι 5-11 Ι The Rock
Coming down from Georgia, Jayce Harrison Jayce Harrison 5'11" | PG The Rock | 2021 State FL is speedy as can be. He provides a true dimension to The Rock on a squad that has a nice mix of size and talent. Harrison is going to be able to get up and down the court and dish it out to his teammates. He has a nice floater and jumper which should increase his value as the season rolls on. Harrison is a guard to keep a close eye on simply because he does all the right things leading an offense.
Demetrius Robinson Demetrius Robinson 6'6" | SF Holy Trinity | 2021 State FL Ι 6-6 Ι Holy Trinity
A tweener and versatile piece at Holy Trinity, Robinson is a big body who can fight for boards and attack. He does all the things that don’t show up on the stat sheet while finding good areas inside and moving guys around. Look for Robinson to have a rock solid senior campaign over in the Melbourne area as a guard/wing.
Devin Leath Devin Leath 6'2" | CG Apopka | 2021 State FL Ι 6-2 Ι Apopka
It is hard to ignore the aggression and flat out the reliable play of Leath. He is a gifted guard who can mix it up on both ends of the floor and hurt you in a variety of ways as an offensive playmaker. He looks for contact and is at the free throw line plenty. He is a hard-nosed defender as well. Leath is a perfect backcourt partner for standout guard John Latimer III John Latimer III 6'0" | CG Apopka | 2021 State FL .
Jaylen Bernard Jaylen Bernard 6'5" | PF Cypress Bay | 2021 State FL Ι 6-5 Ι Cypress Bay
Bernard is someone who has quickly matured here this summer and he is going to reap the benefits this fall at Cypress Bay. He is a very athletic body and is someone who can get up on dunks and finishes. His speed flashes and he is going to be able to create havoc defensively with his long arms and side to side footwork.
Jack Cocchiarella Jack Cocchiarella 6'6" | PF Winter Park | 2021 State FL Ι 6-6 Ι Winter Park
This is a natural born leader in the Orlando area. Cocchiarella is a long guard/wing who simply understands the game. He can shoot it and score inside but his most impressive attribute his unselfishness and ability to get others involved. Look for him to lead the charge over at Winter Park in a steady senior year.
Patrick Kanyamuhanda Patrick Kanyamuhanda 6'2" | CG Edgewater | 2021 State FL Ι 6-2 Ι Edgewater
Shooting is at a premium at the high school level and Kanyamuhanda is a prospect who can do plenty of that. For an Edgewater program that just graduated 2020 guard Michael Eads Michael Eads 6'5" | SG Edgewater | 2020 State #234 Nation FL (Appalachian State), the Eagles need a top upperclassmen scorer. Kanyamuhanda is a combo guard who is not small and is someone who should score in bunches this season.
DJ Courtney DJ Courtney 6'2" | CG Colombus | 2021 State FL Ι 6-2 Ι Colombus
Down at Colombus, Courtney is a prospect who is ready to break out in a large way. He showed glimpses as a junior but after a very good summer, he is a 6-2 guard who clearly knows where to get it done. He has a smooth jumper and his handles are seasoned. Courtney has some wheels and is a pure athlete.
Ryan Petitefere Ryan Petitefere 6'3" | SF Southeast | 2021 State FL Ι 6-3 Ι Southeast
At an up and coming Southeast team, Petitefere plays an undersized big role. He is as gritty as they come and can dig inside, cleaning up misses, blocking shots and grabbing key rebounds. He has a nice mid-range shot in his repertoire. Expect a very nice senior campaign from Petitefere.
