Coach Pope graciously shared some thoughts on the players he worked out recently. These are his words.
Jack Barga (2021), 6’2” 175 F, Lighthouse Christian
Very, very strong. He had a dunk off the tip last season. He can rebound 10 a game if you need him to. He used to have a very flat shot. Very soft touch. I have been very impressed with his development. He is probably a stretch-4. If he catches the ball in a spot where he can be effective, then he will be great.
Logan Johnson (2022), 5’8” PG, Christian Community Schools
The kid is a pest. An absolute pest on the floor. He played with Tannenhill last year. He has a great IQ on the defensive side of the floor. He is a fullcourt press one-man wrecking machine. He reminds me of the Virginia point guard…the little guy who exhausts guys by defending all game. You always know where he is on the court. He is all over the place wreaking havoc. You couldn’t get away from him. He was always messing up something. He reminds me of Jason Roades, but he shoots so much better than him. He is always all over the place. He went to Dayspring last year, but then he switched schools.

I just started working with him. .He is stupid athletic. He shoots the ball very, very well. He is one of those guys that, when he is near the rim, he is dunking. I worked him out last night. He wasn’t with my top players. He was working with my younger players, but he was still putting in the work. Very, very sharp kid off the court. 3.9 GPA. Great kid off the court and on the court. Pure scorer. He played a pretty tough schedule last year. Maybe a D1 player. I would like him to be He is only 165 pounds at 6’3″. He would get pushed around at the D1 level. He has another year to develop. He needs to put on some weight. Is he a wing? I think he is a wing. If you had to move him to the point guard, I think he is smart enough to do it. He could make the move if he needed to.
