Colby turned in a very productive campaign as a junior for Carroll last year. He averaged 8.2 points 2.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game, and also accrued 1.8 steals per game. His shooting splits are very appealing as well: 42% FG%, 38% 3P%, 88% FT%. He is primed for a bigger role as a senior, and I expect he will be shooting more, especially from distance.
Dominyk Price Dominyk Price 5'11" | SG North Iowa | 2021 State IA – 5’11″ – North Iowa
One of the more underrated seasons of any shooting guard in the state last season belonged to Dominyk. His per game averages were 17.7 points 4.5 rebounds 3.3 assists and 3 steals. He was a high volume shooter for North Iowa, taking 7.8 three pointers per game. He was able to maintain his efficiency (44%-36%-77%) with the heavy offensive workload. I wouldn’t put him in the top tier of defenders in this class but he is very tenacious on that end, and 3 steals per game is a figure any player would be happy with.
Colten Sherwood Colten Sherwood 5'10" | SG West Burlington | 2021 State IA – 5’10″ – West Burlington
The sharpshooting guard from West Burlington averaged 12.8 points per game as a junior. He was a nice secondary ball-handler for his team and showed improvement as a playmaker, posting 2.4 assists per game. I am anxious to see how much progress he’s made as a distributor during the offseason.
Cale Leever Cale Leever 5'9" | SG Ankeny Christian Academy | 2021 State IA – 5’9″ – Ankeny Christian Academy
Cale will be a main cog in a potent Ankeny Christian offense. He posted very efficient numbers a year ago, scoring 13 per game on 50% shooting. He also shot 39% from three point range. His size doesn’t prevent him from getting in the paint, but it does hinder his ability to finish there. Even so, he’s an effective scorer at multiple levels.
Logan Woellert Logan Woellert 6'1" | SG West Delaware | 2021 State IA – 6’1″ – West Delaware
This is one of the more complete players you’ll find in this section of the rankings. He had 8.5 points and 3 assists a game as a junior, and shot 40% from three on limited attempts. His game-changing development would be to let it fly a little. He has the skill to get more aggressive offensively.
Cade Pepper Cade Pepper 5'10" | SG MMCRU | 2021 State IA – 5’10″ – MMCRU
I am sure Cade felt like he was playing 1 vs. 5 many times last season. While being the focus of the defense every night he managed to average 15 points 4 rebounds and 1.8 assists while efficiently shooting 50%-39%-73%. It is hard to say how good Cade can be, but I am pretty sure they’re better than his numbers would suggest.
